In addition to starting the Jacobite season on time, WCRC have today resumed working the Royal Scotsman. GB Railfreight have been running the train during the WCRC suspension.

Both trains run continuously until October, and are probably WCRC's most lucrative contracts.

That's a pity in some ways. Surprised nobody has commented on NYMR thread that NYMR is in a desperate position re motive power since 44871/45407 went north. 62005 was helping but failed at Darnholm on 1635 ex Grosmont on 10th May. It struggled to Goathland where the train terminated. Not sure it's been used since, but now off to Scotland.

Looks like they are working round some issues today - taken from the WCRC Facebook page...

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE JACOBITE 11th AUGUST 14.30 SERVICE

Due to flooding on the line between Fort William and Mallaig the planned 14.30 service is unable to run on it’s usual route.

However the Jacobite will be running on an alternative route from Fort William to Crianlarich

    Timings for this train are:
    OUTBOUND
Depart Fort William at 14.40 to Arrive at Crianlarich at 17.12
    RETURN
Depart Crianlarich at 18.15 to Arrive at Fort William at 21.03

Service will resume as normal from tomorrow.

Sounds reasonable :D I think I read somewhere - maybe WNXX - that RTT seems to be throwing up some strange ones like that at the moment.

Got to take a run at the climb to Corrour!

RTT shows yesterday's afternoon service only going as far as Glenfinnan, and this morning's trip cancelled.

Does anyone know if there is to be an photo charter on the Jacobite again this year. I understand that there have been some in recent years and that last years was organised by WCRC. Despite calling the office on the telephone number listed on the WCRC website, they appear not to know if the event is on. Obviously given logistics involved Im needing to know in advance.

Any help on this would be brilliant as this year it would be possible for me to attend.

Sadly no Email has been circulated to those of us who have attended previously, as we're usually offered first choice. Last year's email went out around the 26th of August, for the event on 11th/12th October, giving 7 weeks notice. We're now a week later than if on similar timeframe, with no word on the subject. While James Shuttleworth (if he by chance reads this) could more than likely give a clearer thought on the situation, I'd have considered it may be unlikely.

It's been a tricky year for WCRC, best let things recover slowly. And with the photo charter unlikely to be the focus of core running, perhaps it is on the backburner and may return in a later year.

Spot on, Jonathon. I have heard from several reliable sources that there will definitely be no charter this year, but as for future years, who knows?

No photo-charters, this year, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the information gents. Its been a real shame that the event is not on. I was hoping that it would be but can certainly understand given the circumstances this year that its effectively been postponed. Its a shame such information was not notified in advance otherwise I would have made the trip to Scotland and spent some time up there again. Still might, but giving chase, rather than a charter. Will have to see what happens.
