The Downpatrick & County Down Railway Diesel Gala is scheduled for 6th January 2024.

Traction is expected to include Metrovick A39, GM 146, Deutz G617, EE "Thumper" 458, along cameos from a Wickham Inspection Car, EE 80 class thumper, ballast trains and more.

Táilte Tours are operating a special bus from Dublin and Dublin Airport, the fare for which includes travel at the gala as well.

The event sold out last year and places are limited so better to book sooner rather than later...

Unfortunately due to the recent flooding (the worst experienced in the railway's history), this event has now been cancelled. Full statement here:

As a volunteer at DCDR it's quite a depressing time for us all, with virtually all of our diesel fleet having had their traction motors and axleboxes submerged.
