Not sure that would stop a DMU at 88 mph !!

Especially as the only way to get our DMU to 88mph would be in a vertical fall....

But at 88mph, the stops would no longer be there.

It's all about the different coloured fuel cans. The RED one only goes into the fuel tank at the last moment!

Thanks for these Robin, especially for those of us who live far from the K&ESR... The Class 33 cab is so austere, I'd forgotten this. Two friends and I would eagerly await the latest D65er arrival in Hither Green shed in 1958 where they were 'cabbed' after school on Fridays.

I think it was more like 1961 than 1958. I can remember the sad day when they replaced the normal C Class on the Bromley North Branch freight. You obviously knew the same trick as me for getting past the signalman in Hither Green Station B box to get into the shed.

unrelated to the rvr, but did you attend the centenary celebrations up at gaydon on Saturday? Saw a few A’s that colour, and a few in stunning glacier blue, my personal favourite, oddly a marmite colour among MG folk.

Regrettably, I and ‘Iris’ my MGA, had to be elsewhere.

I am planning a trip to KESR.

What access can a visitor get to the loco yard at Rolvenden?

I am wondering if to plan a whole day at KESR or if to try to get a second nearby attraction in on the same day.

Thanks in advance for any advice / opinions.

Loco yard - raised viewing platform at end the platform.

Use the railway to visit Bodiam Castle?

As above. As far as the yard and shed are concerned, they are closed to visitors. The only viewing access is the raised platform at the Robertsbridge end of the platform.

In the past we've done Tenterden - Bodiam - Bodiam Castle and return on a later train, finishing the day looking round the Colonel Stephens Museum at Tenterden. That's quite a nice day out. Bodiam Station - Castle is a pleasant walk, part road, part footpath, of about 10 minutes or so each way.
