I dont think "Investment" will happen.

There is no room in the market for an enthusiast who thinks he can run trains. It is a profesional industry and needs to be treated as such. Furthermore - the dammage done already will damage the rest of the industry during already hard times...

Hi, new to this forum and was seething quietly over my refund. I have had no reply to e-mails and have asked my credit card company for help so will let the forum know if I get any success that way.

On a general theme, I do think this one company could tarnish the reputation of others. I dont have an enthusiast family and trips from the south coast are rare. For some reason they dont relish getting up at 4am so Dad can take them on a trip from London ! I am sure a lot of Joe Public bums on seats are needed and unless these trips become more reliable many will fail in the future for lack of advanced booking. Of the 3 that I was going on from the Portsmouth area with my family, one was an hour late leaving the start point and waiting on a station from 6:30 to 7:30 in the cold with no waiting room open did try our patience. Second trip was excellent. Third trip was postponed twice and then cancelled.

I very much doubt if anyone is going to get any money back if my recent experiences with KF are anything to go by,even if a cheque arrives in the post that is only the beginning!. [-(

In the past couple of days I have had the 'pleasure' of receiving a brochure from our pals at Kingfisher detailing books that are available. Hopefully these publications are not going to be deleted at the last minute and any cheques sent would be returned. Stangely the money still owed to me was not enclosed.

/\/\ I was about to post the same thing - I came home from work today, to find a comically wrongly adressed envelope from Kingfisher.

Ooh, good, my refund at last! As I found a brouchure I thought, oh well, at least there will be new railtours I can go on for free in lieu of my £89.

Now I am wondering if I would really want £89 of books about the Titanic and stuff. #-o

It wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't sold off 99% of the Kingfisher DVD back catalogue to "Railway Recollections".

    According to Kingfisher's website:

    "Coming soon.........

Full details of our 2009 Railtour Programme."

Well, if anyone needs our best wishes for a happier 2009 than 2008 was, it's Kingfisher - they have organised some great tours in the past and if they can regain the confidence of people like me, they should move on to great things. Like steam from coast to coast for one.

I think I read somewhere recently that some prospective investors had shown an interest.
Let's hope that one of them has the cash and the b*lls to invest in what until recently was a company that offered something slightly different to the average railtour.

This months steam railway quotes Roger Hardingham as saying that investment is close.

Does this mean they will pick up their phones? Does this mean they will reply to emails? Does this mean we will get a refund by Christmas? Does this mean trips in 2009?

    Answers on a christmas card!!
