The Kirklees Light Railway will be holding its first Gala of the year on the 13th and 14th March 2010. This will be a chance for us to blow away the cobwebs and give everything a good run before Easter! This will feature Badger, Fox, Jay and Owl. Hawk will hopefully be back in traffic in time although that depends on its boiler tubes arriving from Germany in time.

For the miniature railway WAGS or gourmets we will hopefully have Calderdale Farmers Co-operative attending with their produce.(subject to confirmation)

On the Sunday as it is Mothering Sunday (Yes note that in your diaries!) any Mum attending who has bought a ticket will have an opportunity to take the regulator of one of our locos. (Subject to availability)(Age restrictions apply)

If its cold the trains will be steamed heated and the KLR is a line that is scenic all year round.

For further details tel 01484 865727 or email stuart@kirkleeslightrailway.com

Before dismissing us as a 15 inch gauge line keep in mind we have 3 1/2 miles of 1 in 70 and trains climb approx 220 feet from start to finish and the longest tunnel on a narrow gauge railway in Britain...it can't be bad!

We had our first visit to the railways for last years September gala, I can recommend it to anyone, line side is good as well and the 1 in 70 puts makes it something special. I would also recommend it is great line to brink all the family as there is something for everyone.

Just a reminder about this event coming up this weekend. Unfortunantly Hawk's retube has not been completed in time however it will be on static display. The first train each day will be 10:30 from Clayton West station with departures every 30 minutes until 16:00.
