Visited today for the first time on a gala weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sampled all 9 locos by noon and then just went with the flow swapping at Skelmanthorpe as and when

The late roster coming out on Fri night meant a bit of planning on Sat in advance but not too much of a hindrance as it seems the first train is 0930 each year

Timetable ran by virtually to time with some very slick loco changes

I counted passenger numbers on quite a few trains, busiest around lunchtime with 2 passing trains having around 80 and 50 passengers respectively

One would suspect the families only do a round trip with the activities at either end of the line to keep the kids occupied.

So probably reckon at least 200 passengers today at a minimum of £11 per person in ticket revenue and the cafe at Clayton West looked busy at lunchtime which would have been additional revenue

Not sure what the running costs of a gala are and whether passenger numbers were lower or higher yesterday but hopefully been successful for them

    I'll definitely be back
