I visited on Saturday and it was a wonderful day. The Ivatt and L&Y double headers were my favourites and I enjoyed a journey behind both (including in the L&Y club car which was a joyful indulgence!). The timetable did slip a bit and it seemed difficult to bring time back, not helped by a passenger's dog escaping onto the track at Oxenhope whilst the L&Y double header ran round!

Trains were busy without being overfull, and it was usually possible to find a window to experience the hill climbs. Thought was given into the presentation of all the stations, with food available at most. One can only hope that the KWVR can still put on such shows after the various upcoming locomotive withdrawals. One minor quibble - the Mark 1 coaches are perfectly pleasant internally but externally seem a little shabby, particularly up against the wonderful work on the vintage carriages.

Wish I was there - but as I went to KWVR gala in February and was on a very good LCGB tour of Albania last week, I can't do everything at once!

I'm sure that the KWVR has enough shots left in its locker to provide another great gala next spring.
