June is a long way off and NOTHING has been confirmed yet. It is likely there will be 2 visitors, BOTH mainline loco's/ (1 will act as a standby for anything going wrong). Altho it is not confiremed yet about anything, including the mainline running.

If your engine from the North Norfolk was a certain 2-10-0 it is never going to happen as when we had Evening Star on loan it did the track work alot of damage so 2-10's were banned.

As for the website that appears to have been a technical issue.

Next year will not feature an Autumn (October) Gala on cost reasons.

No, I certainly wasn't thinking of the 2-10-0! We have a very nice WD already. I was thinking of something far smaller. Something with just 6 wheels and a tender?
The point being that having engines that have had very little exposure off their own railways can create quite a bit of interest. Look at the number of visitors that the YDR attracted through having Morayshire. People went there who had never even considered the place worth a visit!
And on that subject; Morayshire would be nice too!

Yes just to back up what Ian has said there is no fault with 76079.

I was informed via email after a meeting that 70013 would be the only engine at the gala
Not entirely sure why etc etc

In terms of visiting engines, we could have had Morayshire except it is too heavy. Technically the KWVR is a light railway as it has a low axle weight limit.

Hence anything Big (A4/Dutchess/Duke) is not allowwed to run passenger trains, and can only run L/E at a reduced speed.
For that reason too any 4-4-0's are unlikely.

  8. Oh Bugger ](*,) ](*,) I just hope it comes sometime in the future to be paired with the std 4 4-6-0

Can I ask what is the weight limit for engines? An A4 is not allowed at 165 tons but 'Cromwell' will be OK at 143 tons. I remember travelling time after time behind Evening Star but I read here that alot of damage was caused?
I travelled behind Cromwell to Scarborough in the Summer and loved it so will be up to Oxenhope like a shot!

  12. Its the AXEL weight not over alll weight this comes in at 19 ton

The main problem is Bridge 4 at Kly. Its a very large single span from the 1800's so there is a weight limit on it.

We are allowwed 20 movements each year over it above the permitted axle weight...thats why loco's can still run to Haworth to be serviced.

Cromwell still does have some restrictions because of its weight

Well, if you want to see that 'something with just 6 wheels and a tender' come to the NNR over the gala and you can see it there alongside another 'something with just 6 wheels and a tender'!

I would love to see our 2-10-0 working either with or alongside your 2-8-0. Would be one hell of a sound!

Well it should allow Taff a bit more lime light in its final year, I think last two gala's was always on double header at best, assuming she gets the vintage set now that is.
