What a pity. If it had been Apple Green I'd have donated my recent Euro millions win.

    Hey Hey,
If you've just come into an extreme amount of money, how about sharing it around all these new build groups?! :nerd:

Out of interest lets, say this New build L1 Group have got thier act together and they are looking and talking like they know what thet are on about
How many of you would contribute on a regular basis like the A1 Patriot ?
Have they picked a locomotive that can be marketed as a new build

Or have they set thier hearts on a non starter ?

Not being clued up on LNER locos and having a dig around i find Thompson wasnt a particlarly popular chap ( vandalising Greselys machines ) and the L1 was flawed

Looking through the LNER missing list i would of thought a Gresly tank V1 V3 would be a better bet

An excellnet candidate for a new builkd would be Greslys last design the V4 Bantum Cock

Not wishing to undo thier efforts but they will be asking for nearly 2 miilon quid and if you cant sell it it aint gonna happen

I have to say, an L1 wouldn't float my boat, but then again, some folk didn't like the A1, so it's 'horses for courses', as the saying goes. Good luck to them though

If tomorrow the NYMR, or NNR, or similar, issued a press release revealing their burgeoning relationship with the L1 group and the promise of space, expertise and publicity, then people would sit up, take notice and start donating - it would become the Eastern Region's 82045, with the promises of real achievements and a trusted name behind it.

    Until then...

Well it makes more sense than an L1 (in my opinion). They were a good loco, that lasted up untill nearly the end of steam. 1966 i think. Plus i read somewhere that the Irish chaps with the Jeep wanted to build another one, and i believe the cylinders/boiler are identical and im sure many other parts would be compatible as well. That could in theory keep your costs down. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY there is a Hornby model.

A Fowler 2-6-4 will keep the Patriot group busy once The Unknown Warrior is up and running! ;)

It'd be more use than a Patriot. Perhaps they ought to prioritise it? :peep:

Oi, haha were far to advanced to back out now. I would love the LMS Patriot project to build one when The Unknown Warrior is built. But thats all hypothetical and not in any way up to me to decide those sort of things. And unlike these other Newbuild projects we wouldnt need to gain credibility or members as we should already have them? But back to reality we (along with other newbuilds) need to actually finish the first job. Although i would like to point out that the Pat is quickly catching and overtaking the progress of some of the longer standing projects. Is that because the LMS is the BEST way? ill let you decide while i my self hide!

Just imagine .... A Pariot, Crab, Fowler tank, 4F and 1F on shed together !!

You'd never get off shed with all those smokebox dogs to fasten every morning ;)

Yes, but with 2500 on the way back, you could have that, the Patriot, Crab, a Jubilee, Royal Scot, 4F, 1F and others all available in a few years time.... Barrow Hill anyone?

Might as well chuck in 42968 and one of 42073/42085 for good measure.

I sense this thread has drifted from the L1 New Build to the LMS Dream Gala...
