How you can see my mush from that, is beyond me - unless you recognise my right cheek!!

Anyway, it was nice to see No.9 haring down the fast instead of trundling along the slow. :)

Saw No.9 from the footplate of Northern Gas Board No.1 as we were leaving Cholsey this afternoon. A very memorable exchange of whistles - magic! I didn't know she was due until after we had run round and we chatted with a couple of photographers at the end of the platform. She was 15 or so early and we managed to persuade the guard to leave a few minutes late. I'd love to see any pictures of her passing us at Cholsey - I was rather busy hanging on the whistle chain! The three of us on the footplate had massive grins all the way back to Wallingford.

Why does that not surprise me!! ;)

Those of us at Iver weren't expecting a blast on the whistle............................ sounds like the crew were "having fun" all the way home. :)

Big long whistle at Burnham too and that had to be for me as the station was actually closed so I was the only one there! I reckon it was into the 70's, flying along.

Erm.... Maureen.....SOHF I think. I was brought up watching streaks through Donny in the early '60's but UKSteam was still listing it as Tangmere although it was obviously going to be 9 after Tangmere failed....

It's human nature, when you're going home you get a bit of a dash on, get there, park it up, and down to the pub. It looked well though, Mr backabung mentions the A4's breezing through Donny, my recollections are of them struggling out of Leeds Central up to Holbeck High Level with the Pullman trains

I wish I had seen more ! the only A4 hauled I saw was 60025 on the last 'White Rose' seen from the cobbled ramp at the L H side of the station facing up the bank, saw plenty of A1 & A3's though, just had little luck with A4's.

This one triggers my memories of the many hours I spent at Wood Green in the 50s and 60s!
