Today's Bristol to Southall ECS move has now been removed from Uksteam.

The Black '5's are taking a city break in Bristol this week. 47.746 has taken the ECS from Bristol Kingsland Rd - Southall. <BJ>

That's perfect timing for my lunch break so I will be heading up the road to see her on her way. Guess what the weather forecast is for when she heads out though.......rain
Rather annoying after the perfect conditions at same time today.

Saw 5029 pretty much on time between Farnham and Aldershot. Plenty of whistles from the crew who are clearly in a hurry to get to Bristol as she was opened up in fine style for the bank up to Aldershot. Fantastic sound even though she was only pulling her support coach :).
Pictures to follow later. Wish I had decided to go for video now though!

I just managed to see it cruise into Guildford but there was a large wire fence between her and my camera so I just smiled and watched..

Just had a report from a friend that 5029 has just passed Reading.
He had a nice view from the top of The Blade office block in Reading.

Here is my shot of 5029 battling through the murky conditions at Green Lane in Badshot Lea, starting the 1 in 100 climb to Aldershot:
    5029 green lane 25-11-14.JPG

Not one of my best shots I am afraid as I was using my old mini digital camera and my hands were shaking as they were freezing (left my gloves at work ). But I am surprised at the result as she was accelerating hard at this point. Expected the shot to be blurred.

Just for interest, we used the relaid 'low level' line (dive-under) at the East end of Reading station this afternoon.
First steam since the 1960's to do this? Probably the first Castle as well.

Well I never! I live in Reading & never realised it had been relaid, assumed "New" Junction was used.
That must be Napier Road between the camera & 5029. Must of took the "Tesco shoppers by surprise.
