45699 was about 30 late leaving Carnforth but sounded really well at Borwick,no sign of the steam leaks apparent on previous runs last year.

Galatea flew through Pleasington 15.32 full set. No diesel on rear. Jubilee roar well evident, no leaks. Magic![IMG]

With the benefit of a strong (and bitter) east wind Galatea could be heard for at least 5 minutes before she reached the top of Wilpshire bank at 15.13. A quick re-locate to Pleasington to witness 45699 roar through the station at 15.32. Not wishing to tempt fate, she was running like a good 'un.

I believe the late departure was as a consequence of the problems further north with tangled knitting at or near Penrith. Nothing moving that way, also surprised that it seemed nothing was diverted via S&C.

Great footage and good to see Galatea now settling down into a reassuring rhythm of performance. It's interesting that the loco owner's view of "loaded" is 10 up. This suggests the kind of load that will be seen on the CME. Very sensible.

A short shot of Galatea on the early part of her test run at Capernwray and approaching Hellifield:

I can't get used to the cab side numbers, to me they just don't seem right. Other than that it looks well and by the look of those video clips it's going like a good un.

Agreed but fortunately that is a simple matter to fix if anyone can be bothered.

Many have overlooked the move of 6229 from Shildon to York today behind 55002; the Deltic collected a pair of coaches from Carnforth this morning so Shildon should now be preparing the "Duchess" for its move.

It's because that cab side is missing a yellow diagonal stripe :)
