Having recently joined this forum I find it utterly amazing the amount of negative comments with regards to having a diesel on the back of rail tours.
I for one am more than delighted to see steam on the main line and if there is a diesel on the back..so what.
I would sooner have main line steam than none at all.
And I know that there are a few persons in TOC's who would like to see steam taken off as, in their words, "they are more trouble than they are worth".
So if it means having a diesel on the back to make the tour run on time (and then keep steam on the main) then we should welcome this with open arms.

Thanks for the view (and welcome to the Forum) but don't go there again please as we have just upgraded our server and don't want all the extra space to be used up with a resurrection of the debate! :)

Welcome to the forum. Assuming this is not a wind-up just to say we have debated this to death (and probably beyond!) quite recently on this thread:

    http://www.national-preservation.com/threads/diesels-on-the-back.34006/page-32

amongst others. I don't really think there can be anything left to say further on the subject?

You seriously expect that to dampen down the argument? This forum is all about repetition and deviation with no hesitation when it comes to that subject!
