    This time next year, we'll hopefully have 35018 tackling many of the Christmas trains. Much as I'm looking forward to this, like you, Al, I do appreciate the Riley Fives' winter sojourn down south and I also hope they will be back before too long.

    The Fives very strangely made short stops at Bletchley and Milton Keynes Central - both unscheduled. I was at Bletchley, and the fireman aboard 44871 had gone onto the fireman side's running plate to alter the mechanical lubricator, before departing. Not sure if the same had been done at MKC or not.

    Even more strangely they were more or less RT all the way to Preston but lost an hour there and more since. However nearly home.
