I don't think anybody is complaining, it's just a bit difficult to make sense out of what is going on.
Steam crews and support teams will always be welcome in this day and age.

Fair point, have to admit, when I saw the photos on Facebook of 60163 when she went to Wensleydale Railway with a WCRC Class 37 dragging her, seemed a little odd. But having seen this today.. well... now I am very confused. lol

One thing that has just occurred to me... Could they be using WCRC stock because of trying to organise stock from Rivera Trains at short notice for a Loaded Test run? Atm, i believe the Chocolate & Cream Mk1s that Rivera Trains have are at Tyseley. The BR Blue Mk2s were at Nemesis Rail the last I knew. But the Blood and Custard Rake seems to of gone walkies. So maybe this could be part of the reason to why they are using WCRC Mk1s for the loaded test?

    Just a thought.. :p

'Tornado' looking and sounding in fine fettle as it approaches Shap summit with Ron Smith driving and Fraser Birrell on the shovel.

Nice photos both. She looks great. A credit to those who run and maintain her. :)

I read somewhere that Ron Smith has the regular job with Tornado this season.

I guess we'll have to look for a path to Doncaster that isn't 5Z10 then!

Is 60163 gauged for the Carnforth Settle Junc line that the ECS is taking, she probably is but I cannot think of any times she has run across?

A while back 4472 came to Carnforth via preston and left via wennington, there was some discussion on here at the time and if I remember right it was James Shuttleworth who confirmed it could go one way but was out of guage the other, correct me If I'm wrong.

So good to see her and hear her strutting her stuff on the main line again. 60023's old whistle is in fine voice there, though they used the LNER squeak through Oxenholme!

Thanks John , had time to do the Shap shot in the end and what a superb whistle that is compared to the squeak one .

Maybe Tornado will double head with BIL to Carlisle on the CME and return to Doncaster via Hexham, to be in the right place for sunday's trip?:Playful:

I’ve so got used to seeing Ron Smith driving A4s & the A3, that he looks rather at home framed by Gresley style cab windows on 60163.
