A shame the loco is a replica and not the genuine article like 6201, roll on the 6th March! :)

Sorry to cause you palpitations Salty, that had not crossed my mind, but yes that would be something else.....
Anyway 6201 is also going to be an event to savour....

Hopefully for 6233's final run before overhaul, the PRCLT may consider leaving Euston instead of the normal end of year runs out of the cross. I read somewhere that they do the same routes as they know the duchess is ok for gauging, but i see the WCML as no problem as it would be a fitting final trip to end on.

And what does the sweatshirt look like please Ralph? I looked out for you on the Black Fives trip but the tiny picture on here didn't help in recognising you, after all, so many of us 'of a certain age' look alike!

Peter, on his way back to Manchester

I could be wrong but I think the GB3 route back from Scotland has been changed to the ECML all the way

You are correct. Day 9 of GBIII both on the the RTC website and in their latest brochure has been amended to this effect. Now 46115 [presumably if repaired] Edinburgh - York and 60019 [with two tenders] York - Kings X

Hey, just read this! I'm travelling with "management" for this trip so will be stuck at the posh end noshing (when my head's not out the window). I'm now drafting my letter of complaint (from Mr Angry of West Kirby formerly Tunbridge Wells). For this price I expect to be on the footplate not stuck behind you scruffy oiks in the cheapos. ;o)

Have a good trip chaps - can I come and borrow one of your windows (just for Camden Bank)? Thought not.

I've seen a few references to 115 being out of action but nowhere can I find what is actually up with it. Can anyone enlighten me?

    From another thread.

    17th January 2010

    Dear Customer,

We are all very sorry for the failure of the Cotton Mill Express last Saturday. And the inconvenience it caused you.

Unfortunately, the incident has caused considerable damage to the middle engine of the locomotive. It seems the middle big end disintegrated shortly before Eccles this resulted in the centre piston being driven through the middle cylinder.

We hope the casting can be repaired otherwise a new one will be required. Due to the damage to the locomotive we are not in a position to arrange another re-run of this tour.

We are returning your payment in full, if you paid on your card your payment will be refunded back to your card, if you paid by cheque you will find a cheque enclosed.

Once again our most sincere apologies for the problems caused we hope it will not deter you from travelling with us again.

We thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

    Kind Regards,

    Nigel Dobbing
    Managing Director

Tickets Arrived today, i'd advise those booked on it to read the letter VT send with the Tickets carefully as the timings particularly on the return leg differ quite a bit from those on UkSteam.

Perhaps New Street is not the best starting/end point for this tour...

    06.40 departure, 23.32 arrival! :faint2:

Hopefully will get mine over the course of the next week, otherwise I'm phoning... Irate of Pembrokeshire... I always find that waiting for the tickets in the week coming up to a trip is rather tense!

Should get mine next week. I have emailed them just in case, though (This is the first time I've used Vintage Trains, my other trips have tended to be with UK Railtours, RTC and formerly Past-Time Rail)!

Uksteam.info is now showing revised timings, giving an extra half hour in London.(and an extra two hours onto the New Street arrival in line with the info from VT.) http://uksteam.info/tours/t10/t0306b.htm

See you'll be sampling the delights of Atherstone on the way down. Might set up a pie n' peas n' black puddin stall for all you tight wad Lanky types to save your wallets getting raped down in the big smoke :). Hopefully get some good shots along the TV as she gets underway again. Enjoy fellahs.
