Llangollen has never normally operated trains on saturdays in January but for 2010 they are testing the water with a DMU service operating to Timetable A (3 rtn departures)

According to the Railcar website it will be the 127/105 hybrid in use
    http://www.LlangollenRailcars.com/TurnsPages/Weekly_Turns.htm

6430 is to be in use on Sunday operating to timetable A. If you want it is normally possible to go and look in the sheds at Llan as there is usually someone around whose willing to show you around.

Loco Roster normally appears on the Enthusiast page, though notice John has updated for November. IIRC 7822 & 80072 are operational, with 5199 & 45337 receiving repairs and 6430 out on hire.

Had a trip today on the Llangollen railway, an excellent day. I did not get chance to properly think the gentleman how showed me around the engine sheds as I had to run to catch the last train to Carrog where my car was parked.

Please could we have some information on the winter warmer gala this weekend please?
I know the timetable is available on the website but what are the train sets? Are they the subs and/orMark 1s?
Also what are the fares and are Heritage railcards accepted this weekend?

    Thank you.

As far as I can remember there are 3 rakes in use, subs, 3 x MK1 and 5 x MK1. A pair of vans will be shunted on and off a rake during the day.

Fares are on the website: http://www.llangollen-railway.co.uk/event/winter-warmer-2nd-january-2016/

HRA passes are not valid for any of our events, only normal running days.

Thank you for the information. I see Jennifer is now in use rather than 5199, a rare chance to travel behind it. It looks like the loco roster has plenty for everyone.

Is that a complaint or just an observation?

You can see the whole of Pentrefelyn C&W yard as you pass on the train, you can see the top of the loco shed as the train leaves Llangollen, and you can see the sidings at Carrog from the car park?

Or is it a case of you wanting to access these areas and look around? In which case, due to its location Pentre C&W is strictly no public access. The loco shed and yard can be visited on an organised shed tour. Gone are the days you can just wonder round a proper engineering business, with all the hazards associated with heavy engineering. A shed tour can be arranged to visit during the workers lunch break, or on a weekend.

I'm not sure there are many / any Railways that have open access to these areas nowadays. And whilst some Railways yards are naturally visible from public areas, unfortunately this isn't possible for us.

Just discovered that Llangollen Railway is selling a model Dapol GPV in N (not sure about other scales)> Features Welsh Dragon on side.. A good souvenir and useful fund raiser. I would prefer real liveries but bought one for aa brilliant railway.

IMG_20190313_135355.jpg IMG_20190313_122825.jpg Well were working at Llangollen Station box today , carrying out repairs to joinery & preparing paintwork ready for a full re-paint. River Dee is very high following lots of rain. My guard dog was on duty keeping an eye on things.
