The how and why will emerge later. For now, I wish the little boy a speedy recovery.

We are all very upset at what happened. The equipment that the child walked into was part of one of our visiting displays & not manned by any railway personnel.

The big infill job at Corwen started last week. Phase one was completed in four days . On Saturday we created a ramped access from the gate to allow the large hi-ab lorry to get onto the new formation to move a mess cabin & a steel container onto the finished bed , which will shortly become a siding.
Once these are moved the infill between the signal box & phase one will be done, probably two or three days work, followed by phase three, the section which is for the main line & probably three or four days work.
When we look at the amount of infill material retrieved from across the site on the former Ruthin branch it made us wonder how many navvies were needed to move this material when building the original line.
During phase one the loads were coming thick & fast , so the opportunity was taken to use some of these for infilling the platform area.

    Morning all,

Providing I make a recovery from the sickness bug that’s plagued me all week, I’m looking at visiting the line for a few hours on Monday. Can someone please advise which locomotive will be in service and which direction it faces?

    Many thanks,
    James

The infill job to reinstate the section of embankment removed by Welsh Water for access is now ready for ballasting.
The majority of the platform infill should be completed tomorrow.
Work to lay the east end points & join the track to the existing main line will start shortly.

Some observations on the Llangollen Railway this year
Customer suffers horrific burns at railway
High profile new build locomotive leaves railway, with owners citing poor build quality and overcharging for work done issues
Pride of the line locomotive [Foxcote mannor] away on hire for two years at another railway
Autumn steam gala cancelled as requested visiting locos cannot be obtained
All in all a rather poor year for the railway
This is not a criticism of anyone at the railway, but I would like some assurances that people are working to improve things for the future

Rather a strange request for a forum, I would have thought you would have been better off asking the railway or the society.

Interesting first post, which certainly reads as severe criticism/axe to grind to me.
You didn't mention the funding target being met for the gap at Corwen, or any of the huge amounts of work being done at the new station there, or any of the contract work being done in the workshops (246/4498 as examples).

I thought Betton Grange had moved to Tyseley as part of the final stages to it's build to be ready for the boiler as the boiler is being done at Tysley and I know Tyseley will be it's mainline base. But they have said when it is completed would be run in at Llangollen including lunching at a big steam gala event.

I believe the "New build" B17 Spirit of Sandringham is based there as well?
