True they are not, but the boiler barrel is.

I can imagine there would be quite a riot at Llan if 5532 was moved out of the shed, as the owning group (like the owning groups of 80072, 7822) put the money up for the shed to be built! 5539 will be the one moving out of the shed if anything, due to 6430 being the owners priority to be running again.

The tubes aren't being changed this time. Just the throatplate is being welded and rivetted back in place.

When the issues came up with 80072's stays it was looked at about having a staggered boiler ticket. The tubes have to come out every 10 years, and the boiler has to be out of the frames every 10 years. But those dates dont actually have to be the same time.

We've got 3802, 80072 and 45337 running, and 46521 is out next weekend. Almost a luxury having so many engines considering in May and June we were down to 1!!

3802 is owned by the original group that bought it and restored it. Llangollen Railway has a fair sized share in it though, ensuring that it is a home fleet loco, rather than hired in.

5199 is still waiting on the smokebox door ring after issues with the manufacturer / Tysley. Shouldnt be too long though, Back for the santas at a guess.

7754 - Been under overhaul for 8 or so years now. Mostly done by volunteers, and work carried out by the staff as and when money has been available. As said above the Trust has recieved a bequest, some of which has been allocated to the pannier. It will be enough to get the bottom end completed. The boiler has been assessed, and does not require too much work. So it will be done (money dependant) when the bottom end is finished. So it will be out sometime. If someone gave the railway the required cash it could be finished next year!!

Running shed extension - Plans have been done, and i believe planning permission has been applied for and possibly granted. As with the pannier some of the money bequested to the railway has been allocated to the shed. Not sure on timescales yet, but with all the focus being on getting Corwen open, it may start when phase 1 is fully complete.

Will Foxy have a new "10-yr" ticket, as Gav post created a bit of confusion. Can't locate my 7822 newsletter to confirm though..

That would depend on the boiler inspectors assessment i'd have thought. As i posted above, the tubes will have to come out in 7 years. I'd imagine it would depend on the condition of the rest of the boiler at the time if the re tube can be done in the frames, and get another 3 years afterwards before the boiler has to come out. Usual see what happens at the time i'd have thought.

Thanks, I was just puzzled as I had originally thought it was from ELR before some earlier posts.

It was, but it has been a Llan loco for a few years now. Mostly out on hire, but using Llan as the engineering base. It's with us until the end of the year at the moment, how much of next year will depend on the rest of the home fleet I would imagine. As it stands its the only loco available at the moment so quite lucky we have it.

Looks doubtful as to whether it will be able to appear at the West Sommerset Gala then.

Must have been fixed. It was working passenger trains yesterday & ran light engine to Corwen station for crew training purposes.

7822 Newsletter states "hopes for end of 2014 return". So not guaranteed...
