As with all our galas and events, every effort will be made to get people on trains. Trains are very rarely sent away when there is passengers wishing to catch the other one. The timetable has been done to ensure people can change trains easily, with no crossings at Goods.

Yor question about the 26, as D7076 states above it is a no heat machine, with the boiler taken out to make way for air braking equipment. Just looking at the working timetable now, and attatched notes! 80072 will remain on the subs until a few minutes befor departure, to ensure they stay warm. And at llan a loco will attach to the subs to heat them before the 26 departs for Carrog. So all being well they should stay warm both ways!

Almost time for the gala now anyway. I'm driving the 26 on the saturday evening freight, then on 80072 on sunday.

As Iain says above a steamer will be heating the subs prior to departure from both ends of the line, I think the subs do one complete round trip from Carrog with the 26, leaving llan about 14:30 for carrog. At around 15:30 80072 will be back onto them for the rest of the evening ;) I think Deeside is also closed but I can see your concerns as some of the arrival/dep times give around 4 minutes, in reality this may be a little longer if crews arrive slightly earlier having Deeside closed and goods junc not passing should aide this, it'll take more than 4 minutes to put the tokens through the machines in the boxes ;) as well ;)
    I'm on 80072 from 2pm tomorrow ;)

Is there a mistake on the timetable with regard the 09:50 ex Llangollen, is the train planned to go straight through Berwyn or is the time missed off the timetable?

    Thanks in advance.

Just got back from an enjoyable day at Llan in spite of the cold weather - never has the pub at Carrog been more welcoming!

Not too many photographers or videographers around probably due to the cold but the trains seemed well attended to me and there was plenty of time to switch trains. Nice to see the Presflo out on the freight as well.

44806 looked resplendant, someone has done a special cleaning job for her last Gala at Llan and the 44806 Special beer in the Thomson Buffett went down a treat. It will be a shame to see her go, I think the Stanier hooter sounds very well in the valley. Any truth in the rumours that 45337 might be coming to Llan from the NNR?

    Thumbs up from me.

Fun day yesterday although a little grey in the day it cleared for a a very brief but great sunset and an amazing clear night sky. A small selection below and the full collection can be seen at http://flic.kr/s/aHsjQ9D5pM

I hope this becomes an annual event and without exception I found staff at each station to be friendly helpful. I'll certainly back this year, thanks again.

Safe to say Llangollen have put on a great start to the heritage railway year with this event! Just ashame that the white stuff, which had been pre-ordered, didn't arrive. Great show and the staff were brilliant all weekend!

While nothing special, especially compared to Pennysteam's video above, I did do some shooting alongside my photography on a friend's video camera as he couldn't attend himself. He's editted it all for me, and so far this is my second video attempt in 5 years.....
