LMS tank engines

    I think the main reason that the NRM won't restore it is that it hasn't got its original boiler but a later one. This would be a good time to get it restored with a new boiler after all its not like its a Tornado size loco. For the North Staffs Railway not to have an engine restored after all these years of conservation and no interest in doing it is a disgrace to the NRM. They cannot even be bothered to do the NSR battery loco up.

    Here's another idea. Could you build an 'improved' Stanier 3MTT based around the 82xxx currently under construction?

    A MR Johnson 0-4-4T would be nice, as would one of the Kirtley 0-4-4WTs with the wonderful outside cranks :)

    I would reckon that depending on the success of the F5/G5/82045 it would only be a matter of time before many more 4-4-0s are built for use across preservation.

    Restoring a couple of LMS tanks to mainline running would be a great idea. These could be utilised running passenger services on tourist branchlines such as Preston to Blackpool and Oxenholme to Windermere for starters.
