    Re: LU 150 plans...

Having got 2 tickets I rung up Tfl + found there were a few more left for sale. On the 13 jan there are a few for the last 3 trains ex Moorgate. Be persistent / friendly. I was yesterday and got another 3 tickets........I suspect some ballot winners have not taken up all their tickets.
These are being sent out after the New Year.

Sir Peter is very pro enthusiast. A well deserved recognition of his huge contribution to London..........When he was a senior manager he regularly drove a bus in west London and owns his own double decker........

I'm not sure when they are stopping the ballot. I was emailed on the 19th to say I'd been drawn! Was told to be in touch by the 31st if I wanted them so rang and sorted my 2 last Thursday.

Never received the call but thanks to ADB968008 I've got a ticket coming. Just a case of waiting for LUL to post them.

    Re: LU 150 plans...

The Bluebell Mets were beings split up today (for those that don't know, they are normally permanently close-coupled) ready for transport to the Underground.

Interestingly, unless the Bluebell has been incredibly secretive, there has been no 50mph testing in the way that Met 1 and carriage 353 have been tested. Maybe, because they have been in regular service rather than coming straight from overhaul, a period of testing was not considered necessary.

SS leading out of the depot, then half a minute to reverse at Ealing Common station - nice and slick. Makes a change from NR reversals of 15-20 minutes!

Video (not mine) of the first of the four Mets being loaded onto a lorry at Sheffield Park, with a second lorry waiting in the wings for the the next carriage. Presumably this scene will be repeated tomorrow to remove the other two.

Has Met 1 been lined/given a liviery or is she doing the runs as she was when being tested.

Last we saw she was painted but not lined or numbered, but there's still a fair bit of downtime prior to the 13th to address what is a minor issue, would be silly to have gone to all the trouble of getting the Met stock and Sarah refitted with Vac Brakes if Met 1 won't look the part.

    Re: LU 150 plans...

The latest Bluebell newsletter mentions that Met 1 and carriage 353 will visit the Bluebell "at some point". Also notes that the four Bluebell coaches were inspected and some components ultrasonically tested at the Bluebell, and as such were cleared for 25mph running on the Underground.

Also an interesting comment that the idea of running the coaches on the Underground network was first discussed informally with LT management more than 20 years ago! Everything comes to he who waits...

Interesting the loco was 50MPH tested when the coaches are cleared for 25MPH, would I be right in assuming the 50MPH is more for the Amersham runs where a bit of speed is needed whereas 25MPH is sufficient on the central section to keep pace with trains making frequent stops ?.

If it's of any interest there's a gradient profile for the Edgware Road-Farringdon section of the line in this .pdf from The Engineer.

    Re: LU 150 plans...

    Pretty comprehensive that!

But I for one shall give these two Sundays a miss, I can see it being rather busy both over and underground, which on a Sunday night is something that I don't need.

Instead I shall wait for the steam to do the over ground lines to Uxbridge, Amersham and Ricky - more photo opportunities and much less chance of a scrum.................................................. still to those of you who ARE venturing out on either Sunday, good luck with the photting and I hope you get to enjoy it.
