When was all this kicking off?

I was on the platform for the first run, and people seemed to be behaving themselves...................... I knew Ruislip would be popular, though I doubt the LU staff would have been too chuffed with these goings on!!

Which more or less what I said. When told to get down, they did so without protest.

    Ta!

I didn't venture out for that one - lunch was more appealing! :) , did one of the road bridges for the 2 o'clock and could see how busy the platforms were, including the road bridge directly west of the station - why they were there beats me as you don't really have any kind of shot!

Beats me how the station staff kept their cool as there was only a couple of them when I was there.....................................

IIRC it was while people were waiting for the 12:50 to come through. Quite busy and people were trying to get the best vantage point. Two climbed onto a grass bank at the foot of the road bridge - hardly a dangerous place IMO - and were told to get off which they did. All in all I thought the crowds, enthusiasts and public alike, were well behaved.

In todays H&S obsessed world, its hardly surprising that people were asked to get back on the platform, as heaven forbid they might slip/fall and end up on the track and connect with the 3rd rail or a train.............. and if they didn't do as asked, then the station staff would just get services suspended until they did!

There's enough idiots on the tube system on a daily basis with out the steam fraternity adding to it......................................................................they of all people should know better!!

Somewhat overdue but I've uploaded my pictures from the day to my Flickr account. The results of which can be seen by clicking the link, with a preview of one below. Contrary to what other people have said I didn't see much bad behaviour, but I only spent a short amount of time at Ruislip so cannot comment on that particular station. My thanks go to all involved with this event and with the others this year, its certainly been a great celebration of the Underground!

When I was on the train last Sunday, I was told that they are planning two events in August 2014. One of which is the Hammersmith 150 with trains running between Moorgate and Hammersmith similar to the runs back in January.

Also some info from the Bluebell Railway facebook:

Talking to one of the organisers on Sunday I was likewise told that reversal at Edgware Rd was unlikely due to the frequencies of services that reverse there meaning that Hammersmith(H+C) to Moorgate was the front runner. Next year is going to be huge for bus celebrations as well........all this would have seemed v unlikely in the recent past. Many of the v senior managers are enthusiasts so we are likely to have a lot of fun next year.

Steam through the Met platforms at Paddington! Wonder if it could pass a (RTC?) special leaving Pad,perhaps via the direct line to Park Royal(about to close). The managers of FGW are v good at spl events as the Planned Railcar event on the Brentford branch indicates......Or a staged HST departure.....!!
Btw the above is purely a fantasy with no basis whatsoever

    Evening All,

Not exactly hot news I know, but I have just added a couple of shots taken at Ruislip. I can't take the credit for them as they were sent to me by a friend. This is the first one and clicking on it will enlarge it and take you to the other one :
