20 photo's have also been uploaded to the LTM's flickr page showing recent progress with the Jubilee carriage, including the underframe nearing completion.

According to the BBC it will be Kensington Olympia-Moorgate.

Looks good. Guessing Steam on the Met will be MET1 / L94 / 9466. How many locos used to be rostered for this back in the 90s?

IIRC the last SOTM had four steam locos (9466, 41312, 61572 & 62005) and two carriage sets. At any one time there was one on each set and one spare at Amersham, with two of the engines double heading.

Seriously expensive but given the amount of work involved i guess it's no great surprise, especially given the huge cut to the museum's budget - after all, it's hard to see them having any difficulty filling the seats.

Looks like my pension lump sum will be arriving just in time. :)
High price but when next will we get to travel behind steam on the Underground?

    so..
you enter a ballot that may allow you to buy a ticket.
If your selected you can then buy a ticket
but you cannot select which train..
some trains are steam, some are electric...

why does london local government always have to be so complicated...
Obviously this little over complicated ticketing junket will require £000's in custom computer coding to produce a website specifically for this complicated task..

if they want max revenue for a ticket havent they ever heard of ebay ?- guarenteed max sale revenue, overhead way cheaper than a customized website (which no doubt will probably fail).

now anyone spot the Ghost train...
the first "public" one is a return back to Olympia by Sarah Siddons .. obviously there's a "prawn butty" train hauled by No 1 to Moorgate arriving around 11.47 perhaps ?

I hope they don't prevent the public from watching the train from the platforms enroute ?, is this being done in an engineering possession or inbetween regular trains ?, does Moorgate still have spare platforms ?

£150 or £180.., well sounds expensive, but when you consider what it is, when it is, when it last happened and when it's likely to happen again... i think thats fair enough. There will be a lot of londoners who are not steam enthusiasts but enough disposable cash to say they have done it, to buy seats on it.

I imagine the ticketing is being done like this to try and avoid the website crashes and jammed phonelines they've suffered in the past when giving out tickets for special events.

How can it be only steam hauled for 6 minutes ?, is there a reversal somewhere or is Sarah giving a hefty shove up a bank somewhere ?, the Tube Map already reads like a Rabbit Warren to me before you add in the various bits not shown on the Passenger Map.

    Re: LU 150 plans...

Well, I've been trying to enter the ballot today. Unsuccessfully.

First hurdle is that you have to create an account. This involves them telling you that they have sent you an email with a temporary password. Tried that twice and didn't receive the email either time.
So I tried the Forgot My Password button - it doesn't work, nothing happens
I tried the Change My Password screen - this gives an error message and gives you a phone number to call
I called the number - and got a recorded message telling me they were unable to answer my call and unable to take a message. (In other worgs - go away!)

Anyone had better luck than me with this?

Perhaps this is the first stage in the ballot!?
You have a couple of weeks to enter so I'd wait until the system beds down and the problems are resolved before trying again.

Worked OK for me. Account set up and activated and ballot entered. Just need to wait and see if I'm lucky now.

I had exactly the same problem as you. I tried to set up an account but never received my temporary password. I gave it another go with a different e-mail address I have and it worked perfectly. May be you could try the same.

Thanks guys, yes, I have got through it OK now, I guess if the system was so overloaded, our chances in the ballot will be slim!
