It's no coincidence an upgrade to one with an ISO of 6400 is on order ;), prime lens woulden't be a bad idea either.

Thanks for linking the provisional timings, I can prob get a couple of shots in before heading back to Marylebone/Euston about 9ish ideally then.

Can anyone say what the service is like on a Sunday night on the parts of the District/Circle/Met the tour uses up to 11PM?, Google just brings up links full of jibberish, would an hour be enough time to get from anywhere between Moorgate & Kensington High St to Euston or would that be cutting it fine with a late night sunday service ?, I've only used the Underground on weekdays and sociable hours on Saturdays before.

Cheers, looks like every 10 mins up to Midnight apart from the Kenny O branch, looking at the provisional tour timings I'd of said an hour was easily enough, but would appreciate someone who could say for certain, The final train I want to see is the one that's 22XX off Edgware Rd and into Moorgate at 22:17, but need to be at Euston for 23:15, eithe via tube all the way or walk from Euston Square.

Isn't it possible to cancel, so they can allocate the tickets to someone else in the ballot?

    Hi David,
It will be an absolute doddle. Barring mishaps you could make the journey there and back a few times in your timeframe. I say that with the Circle and Hammersmith & City WTT in my hand.

    Regards,

    Paul

Thankyou Paul, think I've got a workable plan now without needing to overnight (just about!).

I found this out in planning my trip, but thought it worth mentioning for anyone thinking of using the WCML from points north of Milton Keynes, the Northampton Loop is shut for the majority of the day on the 13th Jan, with Buses between Rugby - Northampton - Wolverton, LM services from Brum/Crewe - Euston are running via Weedon so no need to get off the train if coming from north of Rugby, presume Virgin's unaffected as they go via Weedon anyway.

Sounds like the steam trips on the Underground will be reported on The World This Weekend, at 1pm on BBC Radio 4. Just heard a trailer: "...and why there's steam down the Tube again." I'm sure it will be on iPlayer later if you miss the live broadcast.

Presumably third class would have to travel in the wagon! I guess the Chesham set will be there in time for the full dress rehearsal.

I also see there's a few photo's of the test run on twitter, it should be fun if the booking hall at Baker St in January look's like it did last night! There's also a few at platform level here, here and here.
