My goodness. Just checked to see that there are 9 consecutive days of booked steam in England in July between 3rd and 11th inclusive. Is there anywhere else in the World which such an intensive programme of steam workings on the mainline? In fact, up to 17th, there are only 2 days when there is none, on 12th and 14th. Steam heaven!!

Poland, there are workings 7 days a week between now and mid October. Not that I'm complaining, it's good to see such a selection on offer.

Indeed, I sometimes can't believe I can go to Shalford, just a few miles from where I live, and see steam week after week, with recently more variety (Flying Scotsman and Royal Scot). In 1967 nobody could possibly have foreseen that.
