Clearly the highlight of the whole event and what a sight & sound she made :)

Absolutely brilliant! What a show from 35006 and her crew. What a credit to her restoration team. I bet they all had a tear in the eye after that performance.

Tickets have been on sale for months, and are cheaper in advance. So you expect everybody else to pay for your entertainment and the railway not to get a penny out of you, that seems fair on everybody else and the railway. Everybody wants something for nothing these days.

I think it's fair that some people don't want to travel on the trains but still have a nice day out watching the comings and goings at a station, whether that be because of lack of funds or someone is just passing through. I do think the option of a platform ticket for those who don't wish to travel (as mentioned before that the GCR do at their galas) is something that should be looked at for next year. Has the railway looked at this option before? If they have then was there a specific reason it wasn't used?

It's difficult to stop people then just hopping on the trains, and with trains so busy, as a TTI sometimes you struggle to walk through the whole train on any given run, so can't check everyone all the time, though we do our best. Now that we do 2 TTIs on a train though it is a bit more manageable so perhaps it could be reviewed for next year?

Please read my other posts before launching into personal attacks from your keyboard, that clearly miss my point. I have clearly stated that I wished to contribute to this event in the form of a platform ticket, mug of tea and a browse in the shop, but I was not in a position to spend £50 plus - having already attended (&travelled on) 2 other galas in the last few weeks. A number of us who support railways are not retired, have families and other commitments that mean we do not have the disposable income we may wish to spend on our hobbies, quite simply we can not do everything. Additionally, my three year old enjoys steam trains, but 2-3 hours is about her limit and she does not like crowds. The Severn Valley railway, Great Central Railway and Llangollen all recognise the value of non travellers at galas and welcome the additional income they bring. Many passers by may also be interested by the extra trains and may return to travel at a later date if they weren't turned away at the front entrance. Judging by the very apologetic response I got from the lady manning the Cheltenham gate yesterday I was not the first to ask about a platform ticket . I honestly hope they reconsider their position for future galas as they are depriving themselves of income at the end of the day, at what is normally a very welcoming railway.

I think you mean it's not just 60103 that attracts idiots! To be fair, we do call the police when we have a problem and they tend to arrive reasonably promptly, although even then it is often too late, they aren't going to hang around once the train's gone past usually. I dread to think what that crossing would be like with 60103, but we're unlikely ever to see her shining our metals again, at least until we get a connection to NWR.

Looks right at home, lovely, the restoration team must be over the moon and justly proud.

I suspect the only one with a tear in their eye was whoever is paying the coal bill seeing that 9f blowing off all along the line ;-) .

I agree, even after a few years 2807 still looks beautiful and steals the show

I don't know what the legalities are surrounding it, but we like to keep the locals on side (CWR through residential area, slow speed limit) and I can't imagine they'd be too happy. It may just be the impression I get, but I feel like I hear it happens more and more (although I've personally ever had to deal with it), so hopefully it will be looked at and something done in due course.
