Hopefully they have better luck with the diesel gala next year,
Its good that the numbers for the heavily diluted through no fault of the railways event,
Have shown that theres a market for a gala.
Even if its tacked on the end in no heat season.

The Magazine seems to be more up to date than the website which says the Diesel Gala is 22nd to 24th April 2016 on the Whats on Page!
When you click on the event though it does show the correct dates for 2017. The same thing happens with the Blue engine events as well.

That diesel gala looks more like the sort of time the Autumn Steam Gala would happen, has that been axed?

I guess that the End Of Southern Steam Event over two weekends in July has taken the place of the Autumn Steam Gala for 2017 only as it is a special Anniversary.
With the Pre-Spring Gala in February this does give visitors three weekends of Steam Galas next year on the MHR. I hope that we don't have a heat wave in July though as that could bugger up the SR event.
The Diesel Gala should be a pretty big event next year as I read somewhere that the MHR have been promised four loco's from the NRM.

Four locos from the National railway museum,
At a guess that's the Class 20,37, deltic and perhaps the prototype hst or the 47
Be interesting to see what comes off.

Don't think 20050's in operational condition at the moment, think the NRM diesel fleet's on the floor at the mo. Only the Deltic, tractor and spoon from the collection are in operational condition and the HST may have other commitments.

believe I saw a couple photos on the preserved diesels fb group a few weeks ago showing works started on the 20 to make it operational,
hopefully if the 4 locos, bring in a decent crowd wherever they turn up would convince them to get the western 40 and ped in operational condition, not holding my breath though,

It can't be to long now before we hear what visiting loco's are listed for the Spring gala. Wouldn't mind seeing 73082 from the BB if that's possible.

Lee, I can see this one being home fleet +1 or maybe 2, if we're lucky, given whats coming up in the summer!

Yes 73082 would be nice, but I for one wouldn't mind something different - like a Jube for example, as we've had enough copper tops over recent years.

Ok so the MHR home fleet for the Spring gala should be as follows:

    Ivatt 2 - 41312
    Std 4 - 76017
    Black 5 - 45379
    9F - 92212
Schools - 925 - This loco is currently having a mid ticket bottom end overhaul, will it be complete by Feb will have to be confirmed.

If 925 is not going to be ready this should mean that at least one visitor will be required for the usual gala intensity.

There is a MHR advert in the back of the latest issue of Heritage Railway which states the home fleet will be:
    Ivatt 2 - 41312
    Std 4 - 76017
    Black 5 - 45379
    9F - 92212

And there will be a surprise guest loco! :)

This is the February Gala line up.
The Summer Gala is provisionally featuring four visiting Bulleid Pacifics.

A pedant, who has been waiting for title of the thread to be corrected, writes 'Four Bulleid Pacific's what?'
