Is the 4f around? I saw her quickly last week and she looked glorious and perfect for our freight train

KWVR S160 is also very nice but her uglyness beats even the Q1

    James,

I'll concede that an S160 probably isn't a wise idea given recent history.......

But the Dub-dee really would be a coup, as I think the furthest South its been is the SVR - & its not too much further to the MHR as the crow flies, and certainly fits with "non LMS"! :)

Just a thought......... given the news on another thread (or two) anything from the Worth Valley can be ruled out due to weight restrictions on local roads/bridges in the area, meaning nothing comes or goes by low loader............. :(

    So, back to more speculation.........

    Had an e-mail today from the MHR which has details of the Autumn Gala visitors;
    Crab 13065
    Ivatt 46521
    T9 30120 :)

Excellent news about the Crab and T9. I was kind of hoping for the T9 again. I wonder if she will be allowed to go solo this time?* Will 46521 also be allowed solo on five carriages? 41312 was on the limit when she hauled five over the Alps.

MHR website now updated too http://www.watercressline.co.uk/product.php/33/autumn-steam-gala

*This was the T9's first solo run during her last visit which I filmed from the first carriage:

I look forward to enjoying this experience again.

Surely red and green should never be seen, as the adage goes?

When the 8F at the GCR was red, it went rather well with their green rake, and so will the crab! :)

So happy to hear the T9 is returning - one of favourite locomotives. It's shaping up to be a rather peculiar, yet colourful gala.

Given the number of locomotives on the MHR currently, and the number of visitors, I guess a number of the home fleet will not be used? Maybe 45379 and 92212?

From memory one of the home fleet locos are swapped out over the gala. Don't forget it could be the last time 850 will appear at a gala before its next overhaul is due. According to railway magazine the MHR are in talks with the NRM about keeping 850 after the boiler ticket expires. So with any luck 850 will run all three days. I also wonder if 34007 will also appear at this gala for the last time. Her ticket must becoming to an end soon. Anyone know when 34007 bolier ticket exspires.

    Cheers
