The question which must occur to me is will 3 guest locos (plus possibly 2 home returnees) actually equate to more income than 2 guests (or less) or just more cost?

Well, given the Crab is a rare beastie in the South, and the chance to see the two Ivatt's together, I would expect them to be crowd pullers - should make for some fine sights pounding up the banks. :)

As for the T9, don't need to say anything. ;)

I will go just for the chance to see the Crab.

Seen the T9 loads of times but she's so pretty you can't get fed up of her.

There isn't two home returnees at this event. So the question isn't relevant.

Last time the T9 came to the railway it took five coaches over Medstead bank.

It depends how fit she is this time. She is currently at the Swanage Railway and is "unavailable" for traffic. Hopefully the good folk at Swanage will sort her out.

My apologies - I am sure I have seen a lineup with 41312 and 76017 possibly returning - is that not going to be the case then?

Whether 3 visitors give sufficient extra return over 2 to justify potential a 50% increase in costs is still relevant when there are 3 visitors. I am interested as I presume the Mid-Hants (and the other Railways who regularly have multiple visitors) must have the data to prove it is, or why do it?

Red & green aint too bad (think Xmas colours) but blue & green take some getting used to.......

I for one seriously hope the Crab makes it - its been way too long since I've seen one!

Getting back to the gala. It won't be to long before someone wants to know when a time table and loco roster will appear on the MHR web site.:)

As long as the freight does at least one full line return each day, I don't care what combo's they come up with (or not)!

Anyway, all those hankering for a WTT will no doubt have to wait until mid October.

Is there any chances of brake van rides in the Queen Mary? Saw they did them at her last home

I 'believe' brake van rides are something that are being looked at - though whether or not they happen is nowt to do with me - if they do happen it wont necessarily be the QMB!

I know they happen at the cranks gala, but all those nutters want is a full line return with some box thrash  so the timetable accommodates brake van rides for those wanting haulage/rare track - the steam gala is for those who appreciate the finer things in life - so the timetable is more intense - so less chance of BV rides happening.

And perhaps in return you could send a certain merchant navy up our way...:Smuggrin: When it's finished that is, no need to jump the gun now

Don't eat chocolate - so falls on deaf ears! ;)

But its not my place to say where she goes......... I can see it being a FS situation - lots drawn out the hat as to where she goes when the time comes.

BUT we digress............ the Crab does it for me, and if social media is anything to go by, then most folks think think the same. ;) The Lads who come down with her are sure of a warm welcome - we don't bite & it'll be nice to hear Northern twang again. :)

I don't know about the MHR but we have done brake van rides for our steam galas for some time now and they have been incredibly successful. It's a nice little earner - perhaps directly to your wagon fund? :)

If the T9 doesn't make the gala (pretty sure it hasn't run much at Swanage due to issues) and the Ivatt doesn't make the home fleet wonder if we will get a last minute replacement

Even with out the T9 and 41312 it's still a good line up. I wonder if this will be the last time 60019 will run before its next overhaul. So it would be worth going just to see 60019.
