4270 is expected to have made its début by the time of the GWSR gala in May. It's very close to completion.

Would we also see a return of Bittern? As its mainline certificate is now nearly up?

I hope so. I've missed a few chances to go see her at the GCR due to something coming up each time.

I assume it's arriving by road? Only it's jolly decent of SWT to allow their stations to be deconstructed to let her past if not.

I can't see her coming in by rail either as last time 6024 visited she had to come very late at night so that she could crawl through a few stations as her cylinders were very near the platform edges.

I might be wrong on this but isn't there a few implications to putting a mainline loco on a lorry, in terms of what exams are required before she can go mainline again (not just a standard FTR)

Both seem to be likely visitors. Hopefully the gauging on the line down to Alton hasn't changed too much since 5029 last visited the MHR otherwise there could be problems for both 5029 and 6023 coming in that way.

5029 should be ok unless there has been some drastic changes since her last appearance. As for 6023 coming in by rail, I seem to recall that 6024 was booked for the last GWR themed gala but due to gauging issues could not arrive by rail? An alternative arrived by road instead. Can't remember now what it was but could have been Didcot's Mogul.

IIRC I think 4953 replaced 6024 at the last MHR event 6024 was supposed to attend.............

If that is indeed the lineup, it will take some beating from the other ASG's
