Yes Chris you are right, i believe a Mr H Katz another American also had a share but later sold it.

Regarding the N class, i remember seeing/hearing somewhere many years back, that the NRM had approached JB about purchasing her, but were turned down. Rumour was that it was a significant offer.

Thanks for that info Andrew, do you know where the S160 is now and why Mr Stone is still suing the Railway?

    Regards
    Chris

Im not sure The NRM buying 31874 would have been a good move, for the engine, given the repairs needed,it would probally have been cosmetically restored and never steamed again best thing that can be hoped for is that in 2014 where ever she does end up that it does get repaired i dont know the ins and outs of the claim about the s160, all i know was that it was a good engine when it ran, but was unserviceable more times than often and was rough riding

Yes, she is at South Coast Steam, Tradecroft, Portland, in a dismantled state. Been like that for at least 5 years.

If you are in the area anytime, last time i saw her last year, the frames were near the front gates.

35018 is in the middle of the compound albeit obscured from a clear view now.

Regarding the owner suing the railway, i dont know much info, but would guess it is over outstanding steaming fees or a liability to overhaul at the end of the boiler ticket. Similar to the claims settled out of court over 34105 and 76017.

I would endorse the view that the loco seemed to be out of traffic more than in it.

During its time at the MHR, the runs i had behind her always seemed to be pants as well, more often than not running short of steam before Medstead from Alton.

WD601/90775 was always my favourite of the two Greek repats. So i suppose i am biased.

    Thanks

Thanks for the photos, what a sorry state 35018 is in. Such a pity as I can remember seeing her in the works back in the mid-nineties and it seemed at the time progress was being made into restoring her to steam.
