I suggest you dust down your rule book and have a good read...

    Thinking logically....

Do cleaners and fireman know how to stop a train correctly and safely?
Do they know where to stop a 5,6 or 7 coach train on a platform?
Do they know of any TSR's or PSR's?
Do they know where all the signals are and to what routes they apply?
Do they know the speed limit going in to points etc?
Do they know what to do in an emergency?

    Just a few logical questions....

I think steam crews should drive steam locos and diesel crews should drive diesels locos and there should be no over lapping of this. Some of you steam people get to have a ride out on the foot plate at least once a month. How many times a month do you see a diesel loco out with a diesel crew on it. There are a reasonable amount of diesel people that can drive at the gala. So please let the diesel chaps have a day out on the foot plate for once and have some glory.

The trouble is, how often as a Diesel driver would you get to drive in a month? Practice etc. Basically what I am getting at from saying this is that I think a DMMU, DMU or even the 33 should run a train alongside the Steam during the week or at weekends....

Well said 34007 I think you are right about that we need more diesel turns on the MHR.

There is a big market out there for diesel days and it would be great if we could have at least one round trip a month with a diesel.
You can't get much better than a blue class 33 with a good head code on it at the MHR.

Yes I am an active volunteer
Theirs a spare path in the weekend services , that double headed 33 train looked pretty packed out to me when the 2 GWR's were out , maybe worth looking into a long term thing having a 3 train service ?

And isn’t their a DMU (DMMU?) out most weekdays, 1 steam and 1 diesel? Could always swap that about a bit and use the 33.

That would be great please don't forget about the class 45 & class 27 which should be back in service at some point in time
It wasn't that long ago that the class 45 was out most weekends (Peak Power).

Bloomin' BE headcode ya can't get away with it!!! Lol - Love it!! There are loads of photos about with the BE headcode! Look to Mitch - He has some on his fotosite. I think the 33 should be out alot more than the DMMU with a small rake of MK1's alongside steam - As I say gives the Diesel drivers a chance to do their thing with exchanging tokens - Makes a fab photo!! \:D/

Maybe we could run one round trip with the two class 08s and the class 12 at the diesel gala.
