Looking at the BBC weather for this coming Sunday around Winchester area. It shows sunny and a max of 8 centigrade.

Looks like it is cancelled. Sorry if this has already been posted but this topic seems to have wandered a little over recent days and can not see it mentioned elsewhere. And it looks like all this snow will be gone by Friday looking at the forecast....oh well saves me asking if freight engines were going to on freight trains and they would be pointing the right way...and 200 miles driving!

    Please change cancelled for postponed.

Yes this is due to a certain degree to the weather and it did not help that three trees fell on the line between Medstead and Alton now removed.

Other factors involved were frozen couplings due to the severe weather and no shunt has been able to be achieved in the last two weeks or so, staffinf has also been a big problem due to volunteers unable to travel.

Our opologies for these unforseen circumstances though I hope the above explanations help tp ease the pain a little.

    Regards
    Chris

A Bad Weather Timetable will be run with one steam and one Dmmu working with trains passing at Ropley this weekend Vice the Freight Weekend which as Chris points out has been Posponed .
Shame indeed as Ive swapped my Saturdays round at work so I could attend. Lets hope it doesnt clash with any other events as the Bluebell has lots on in late Feb and March.

It's now a normal service 1 timetable, details available on the website.

Edit: Have just been informed that that is incorrect, apologies all.

Bit confused by your comment Chris . A I work Saturdays and have re arranged my roster to go to the Freight Weekend now it will be re cast I hope it will be on one of my Off days . And I hope that it doesnt clash with a Bluebell Event so that more people attend the Mid Hants and make it a sucess.

I think this event can hold it's own against any event that the BB are running. There has been lot's of interest in this event and anyone coming down from the North of England could do both events which could be a plus for both railways.

Why can't people attend both events Dave and why would a BB event be more popular?

With a visiting Fairburn tank at the BB... an event which is unlikely to be repeated, I think there's one winner in that competition!

As you say it could be people would go to both events, but IMO a clash would be better avoided. You've also got the GCR gala at the end of the month, whilst it's not exactly local it's always very popular, their line up is rather strong to say the least.

It is really unfortunate that the weather has transpired in such a way to ruin this weekend.

It is a pain about the weather. I thought a goods train weekend would make a great end of exams treat. Now all there is is mothers birthday...........oh how exciting!

Sorry people are NOT READING WHAT I WROTE !!! I did not say the Bluebell would be more popular ,,,
Just said I hope nothing clashes so that all can attend all events...
However Matt has a very good point that the Bluebell Branch Line Weekend is a no brainer ,,,, Thats where to go . Birch Grove in SR Green ,2MT and Fairburn tank ,,,, nice .

That is correct David and all as before. I suspect that a lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes today so well done to all for their hard work.

I also understand that a special timetable is scheduled for this weekend and NOT just a steamer and a DMU as advertised.

    Best regards
    Chris

This is disapointing but at least it is rescheduled at a late enough date to give those that need more notice to rearrange their plans if possible.
I'm still looking forward to get some photo's of the freight stock as these are often difficult to get at normal times.
    Roll on Feb.

Any news on this as I still have the day off and fancy getting outside in the fresh air for the first time in ages! Well, without a shovel in hand that is!
