I'm I right to believe that Britannia is still there? Just wondering what the current progress is on her.

Also, is MHR holding it hostage so as to trade it's return to Hosking for Braunton...? If they were, I wouldn't blame them... :)

More like Loco Services are apologising for taking up 1/6 of the Ropley yard for the 2014 season by loaning Bittern for the 2015 season :D (If only it were that easy im sure some hefty steaming fees are involved)

That's probably why I'm always so saddened to see the state of 249 Squadron, a Bulleid deserves better...

IR has posted various pictures on The Works of the wheel centres being pressed on to the replacement axle, quartering being checked, and replacement tyres being machined, fitted, and then turned down to match other driver sets...so I suspect that all means it may return to being a 4-6-2 sometime soon.

I amongst all the talk of chopping down trees, I actually had the chance on Sunday to see inside the new waiting room on the up platform at Ropley - Man! It really is the Mutt's!! :)

There's been a serious amount of craftmanship & attention to detail gone into it, it will certainly be a lasting testament to the skills & dedication of the Building Group - Well Done Lads! :D

Does anyone know how 76017 and 75079 are progressing?

There are updates on the MHR website that include info on 76017. There hasn't been any info on 75079 for a very long time though :(

I'm helping out on 75079 on Sunday's. It's coming along ok. The last time I was working on the locos we were painting the tender wheels. Other work taking place is new boiler cladding being made and painted. Front pony truck is being put back together. The motion is being overhaul and made. All the floor cab brackets have been taken off the frames and straightened. Lots of work has been done on the front part of the frames. There's lots of other items being overhauled or have been made for the loco. We have also doubled up on some items that fit 80150. The list of items made and overhaul goes on but I can't remember everything. When the loco is finished I would think about 70% of the loco will be new.

    I hope this helps.

    It does, thanks.
Would it be possible for you to post regular updates on here? :)

But presumably 80150 is still a way off being started seriously though?

Yes a long way off from what I understand but it makes good sense and is more cost effective to make the same part now and to store them for when they are needed for 80150.

I don't suppose anyone know's the status of Sir Frederick Pile do they? I know it's currently a kit of parts, and there are other priorities. Just wondering if there's any idea when good old Fred will get his turn, that's all.

It all depends what the MHR powers that be decide. Personally however I'd love to see 34058 enter Ropley works upon the completion of 34105, thus giving the possibility of 35005,34058 and 34105 running together in say 5 to 6 years time.

I suppose its down to whatever agreement that was reached between the two parties about her move to the MHR.......... things I suspect could happen a lot sooner than you think & given that there's almost a complete loco kit of precision parts sitting in various vehicles, it would take long to put the old girl together! :)....... boiler & other things excepted.....
