I know it is often asked how 75079 or 41312 are progressing, but it seems a long time since I've heard anything about 76017? Is there a chance she will be gracing the Autumn Gala or next years Spring Gala?

Although it is no longer a Mid Hants engine, of course, reports are coming in that 31806 is having an interesting time at the NYMR gala - reckoned by some associated with it to be the hardest it has worked since leaving Barry........

    Cheeky!

Though exactly what relevance an ex resident has to do with this thread is beyond me, seeing as its home is now the Purbecks & not the South Downs........... never mind..... o_O

Well, if you go back to post 1 of this thread, the very first sentence refers to 31806 and all I said was thart it had an eay life on the MHR so I'd say that it was totally relevant.;)

So who is for a Somerset and Dorset 50th Anniversary of Closure themed Spring Gala then? A nice welcome into traffic for 76017 and a great farewell for 34007.............. (I think the 76000's worked over the S&D?)

    A potential line-up of:
    34007
    41312
    45379
    76017
    92212

plus a visiting Bulleid or Standard? :)

What about a 4F or 53809. They would look great on the freight train.

I didn't get to ride on the S&D but I lived a few hundred yards away from its track bed for a decade and walked all the accessible bits. To me the MHR is the heritage line that gets closest to how I imagine the old S&D to have been. It would be wonderful to have a tribute gala on this magnificent line, with the Alps making a good substitute for the legendary climb on the much lamented S&D!

I hear 34092 is making some nice noises up on the NYMR... I imagine she'd sound just as impressive on the Alps! :)

Breaking news, it appears that the boiler for 41312 has been steam tested today (outside of the frames).

Does anyone know when the Great Missenden signalbox is being moved from Four Marks to Ropley? I would quite like to see that.
