Now we just await the transport for Bodmin.................. as the rumours floating around for 73096 are interesting to say the least!

 

Sad to see her leave the MHR as she was such a lovely locomotive and a nice change of pace from the Bulleids

So where will the SLL fleet end up? I really hope this isn't the start of the end of a professional setup...... they seem to be selling the family joules to pay the bills at the moment!

 

The U stopped at Meadstead during the recent War on the Line weekend (note the cleaned number patch rather than the usual clean loco)!

Actually this photo sums up the MHR whilst the bunch locos maybe leaving, the line now boasts a fine collection of other locos and well the NRM seems to like leaving its southern locos at Ropley

 

Ah. so that's your picture then that now graces their face ache page!

 

The MHR has a bright future we have the brilliant NRM pair and Wadebridge with Swange and CanPac to return in a few years

I'm talking just MHR loco's here...................... Hurricane is quite correct, don't forget the Urie lads & their efforts!!

 

I believe they will be getting the frames sorted on 506 very soon, as that's why the loco frames are in the workshop. Those of you unaware the loco requires practically a new front end on the frames!

You are forgetting the other two standard 4s, one due to return this year 76017 and then 75079 which is a couple of years away...... a lot to do before the standard tank gets seen to!

 

'79 yes, but from what I've been told - '17 could be a different matter............................... my info could of course be duff!

 

I was told we should expect to see '17 right at the end of this season so she is ready to run next season! Although I bet we see the Ivatt before then so she can run the off season stuff this winter!

 

NOT what I've been told, but as said the info could be duff (why am I talking about a ruddy box on a mainly steam thread.................... )

 

I believe its been a plan for a while now to use a lighter loco such as a 4MT as an economic way of hauling shorter rakes during the quieter winter running days.
Less running days were made last winter which made a considerable financial saving and also gave the various maintenance gangs a chance to catch up with things but it also means dissapointed customers if nothing is running for weeks on end.

The long term plans look very good.

 

Reading that press release it appears they have either Gandalf or Harry Potter working in their loco works to get them in service that quick! Both the N and red U are in very poor condition.
Anyway it's good to hear they have a home and active future.
