I wonder if we can get a 2 6 4 T, a taste of what is to come in the shape of 80150?

That I thinks would suit everyone.

    Food for thought?

Yes that would be very nice. I always enjoyed 76017 on The Watercress Belle, like 31806 it gives a smooth ride, the 4MT power is just right for the Mid Hants, gives them a work out without straining too much. The tank also looks good both ways!

No--- 4472 Flying Scotsman as No 4 Gordon ( not in any BR Livery)Best to do it right if your going to do it ..Pete Waterman said he was the most hated man in preservation when he painted 60103 Flying Scotsman however its only a coat of paint!! something many others in preservation should take note ... A change of colour rings the changes and brings in the punters..

80072 from Llangollen seems to be visiting a few lines at the moment so maybe that could be persuaded to visit

80072 would be a good choice of loco for a spring gala. I've had some good trips behind 80078 and 80104 at the MHR before.

Maybe 80002, 80080, 80151 or 80104. I think I saw a photo of 80151 on the MHR but during BR days.

Doubt it will be 80151 as it's on it's last legs of it's ticket. Also the uncertainty of 80151 being avaible for the Easter services and if the S15 will be ready or not is one of the reasons we might be getting the 9F in for cover.

80104 will not be available for the MHR 2012 Spring Gala 23rd - 25th March, because MHR have already hired 30053 for that weekend!

Another popular loco would be to have 1638 from the Bluebell and have both U class locos double heading at some point over the gala.

I doubt if they will release it Lee as they have a shortage of large Loco.s at the present time which is why our 9F is likely to go on hire to them for the daily running season.

Even if that wasn't the case though, would Bluebell let it visit? It seems that certain Bluebell locomotives don't travel elsewhere such as 21C123, the Maunsell fleet i don't recall going anywhere & the standards. But strangely the Dukedog, E4, Terriers & Normandy (plus the odd visit from Baxter & the O1) and any others i may have missed have made various visits over the years. I would love to see the Q in BR livery at Swanage or MHR for example... or 34059 (when running) visiting elsewhere.

Not sure I really want a Bluebell loco to visit. It does seem possible given that its not a huge distance in terms of transporting the loco (the same for 53 and if they wanted an Isle of Wight based loco) but having ridden behind all the current Bluebell Operational locos I'd like something else to visit. Thats for myself personally.

One engine I would have like to see as a visitor to one of the "Southern" lines (as until recently they were the nearest to my home) was the Stanier Mogul 42968, which besides being unique, has always struck me as a capable machine. Perhaps its owners didn't want it to leave the SVR very often, although I do believe it went to Haworth once.

I believe it is about to be withdrawn from traffic this year, so regrettably, I'll have to dream on.....

She's done a bit of travelling in recent times, she was at the KWVR as you say, and went to the GCR in 2010. She also attended the Llangollens gala in 2008 and the WSR in 2007. So she has done a few visits in the recent past!

Whilst she is withdrawn this year i understand the group have the funds for at least two further overhauls at the moment. So I can't see the Mighty Mogul being kept out of steam for long! On her return she will be in a different livery though.
