    Hi King John,

The photo must be before Oct 1996 because the foot bridge was completed and open in 1996 and you can't see the foot bridge in Daves photo.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned that Colin Chambers also mentions he has put in a request for 4472 to come to the railway. With the good relationship the MHR has with the NRM I would imagine 4472 may make an appearance next year? An NRM loco gala next Spring perhaps? 4472, 850, 925, 30120, 70013, 3440............. Sorry, got a bit carried away there.

Wasn't her first visit in 1995?

Anyway good news that next year will feature the T9 (though it seems the SVR are the lucky ones in getting her first). Also the latest SR seems to suggest that the Autumn Gala will be of a Maunsell theme with possibly 847 from the Bluebell (that'll make 4 S15's on site with 847 joining 30506, 30499 and 30828) visiting and maybe 30777. But we'll have to wait and see.

30777 is one I've been waiting for for a long time!
And 1995 sounds right for 53's last visit - I was wrong in my previous post! I think I started volunteering in '94 not '96. Bit of a senior moment

Im sorry I have not been paying attention to this thread over the last few weeks ... The picture of the M7 is 11th March 1995 . She also ran some charters during this period over the Mid Hants with both coaches and goods wagons .

And for the record I have been on the Mid Hants since 1975 at the tender age of 15 ..was at the opening ceremony complete with a Kodak 110mm camera ..Not quality nor do I know where the pics are.

I am slowly working my way through my slides and putting them on Linesidephotos . Next will be 34105 and 31625 (my old engine). 30506 to follow .

Although the M7 is the only visitor, albeit a very welcome one, there is still a lot to look forward to. A few from the weekend, although I managed to dodge the sun somehow!(had a lot of work comittments over the weekend!)

With freights and full runs of the line with 53 and early/late departures I'm looking forward to it!

I hope the M7 arrives smoke box out of Alresford. This would then stop photographers from entering the sheep field at the Alton end of the line.

How much does an M7 weigh? Could Mr Chambers turn it with his crane?

It doesnt matter which way its facing... regarding trespass in fields there are just as many go into Wanders and North Street as well as Gungleton its just there are no animals nor a photographer chasing farmer!..
So all are in private land infact more so if its facing out of Alresford.
I would think if the were a prefered direction then out of Alresford is better due to Soldridge Cutting. However lets see what turns up .
However LSWR and NRM owned M7 245 has worked facing out of Alton in a manner of speaking . !!

MHR have requested 30053 to be unloaded at Alresford, chimney to London. The decision to use 3 coaches was, I understand, in consideration of the limited water capacity of the M7 (1300gal), and not its haulage ability. IF, it can do round trips with 3 on Friday, with plenty of spare water, it MAY get 4 coaches on Sat & Sun.

Having just looked at the long range forecast for next weekend, it is likely to be wet ( though of course that may change!), so maybe the decision will be made for them as to how many she actually takes up the banks!!!!

M7 has better adhesion than T9.....

(Smaller wheels, smaller cylinder bores, more weight on drivers)

Presumably adhesion decreases as she uses water though!
3 coaches will be fine, 4 a bonus!
