No in all seriousness... last weekend 34105 and 76017 were going to be towed into the yard to be cleaned for the gala, but due to lack of time I was told it'd be done in the week so maybe they'll be part of the show.

Unfortunately other railways manage to make a WTT available in advance, in fact I'm struggling to think of lines other than the MHR who don't. They also make some good money out of it...

It will be nice to see them cleaned up and in the yard again. Is this to do with progress regarding their situations? :-k

IIRC, the Watercress Belle set will be used on one trip each day. I think it will be the 13:13 departure from Alresford and 14:01 from Alton.

Loco allocations weren't included on the WTT that I saw. It will be a matter of turn up early and see what the light engine moves are. Not ideal, I know.

The two visiting locos have both arrived at Ropley today. Both locos are facing smoke box out of Alton.

The SVR WTT at their gala was £5.

It was extremely detailed (more than most) and included Stock workings, Drivers Diagrams and Guards Diagrams as well.

At each station they had several boxes of these, and they sold extremely well.. I would hazard a guess at leats 1000 copies... thats £5000 for photocopies !

In my opinion it was invaluable and a bargain.. in the railways opinion its about £4.00 profit per copy sold.

The NYMR published a glossy brochure at £6 ? (I think) including WTT movements and descriptions of the locomotives and the line. Again this must have sold 3-4000 copies, though cost a bit more. Again good money.

The WTT is a win win for everyone (I agree dont publish it in advance, but sell on the day, or by mail in advance), this limit's it being available free of charge, hence protecting the revenue.

How can the MHR print a WWT before all locos have arrived at the MHR and have been given a fitness to run exam. Everyone would be up in hands if a WWT was printed and of one reason or another the WWT was changed. Yesterday some people moan about not having a time table and now people are moaning about not having a WWT. What more do you want?

Simply include the usual disclaimer about loco availability as most other railways do.

Well every other railway seems to manage it. Bearing in mind the timetable is roughly the same every year (10am start, 5.30pm finish), there's no reason why it shouldn't be available earlier. I'll be going this year, but it's frustrating not knowing what locos are working when. NNR managed to get their guide out a month before the gala, complete with loco allocations. And some of their guest locos didn't arrive til a couple of days before the gala!

Agreed Ralph, however this man does have a point, if others can do it , why not the MHR?. In these recession hit times another source of income and it also keeps the gricers happy too. a win win situation.

These valid remarks should be seen by Colin Chambers and co.

    Regards
    Chris Willis

Well if they are in the queue for overhaul - i may be finding some time to take off from holiday to help out with their overhaul? Supposing that is what may be happening?

He took on board what i had asked which was about accomodation over the gala and ive been given the awnser i wantted .

To be honest , i dont know on here what people are joking about and what people are actully being serious . If people were that worried they would send in to colin to give there " constructive" cristium ....to be honest , no one seems to understand that and continue to moan . To be honest , i can see why projects and railways are failing , no one is out thier to ride / restore / buy things , there on here complainging that no one is doing anything .

Maybe if you asked and not shouted out at people - You might get answers that you need...

I think most if not all on here are wanting to to understand and not moan! And where do you see projects and railways failing? Is the MHR failing? Hmmm :-k - Answer is No!

Trouble is being in the times we are in??... Things are bound to get a bit tough!
