Shown as 2020 Tons at 45 mph max. That will take some stopping.

If it's only going at that speed that would probably indicate at least one going backwards onto the MHR. Braunton so as to partner it with 34007 perhaps?

Don't forget that 34046 is probably facing Country at Southall after the Royal Duchy in September (its last duty?). 70000 will probably be facing the same way after it gets back from the Dartmouth Express on Monday. Unless they do a quick turning move via Hanwell (unluckily but not unheard of) then they will have to work tender first to the MHR and will therefore be facing London, if this is all correct!

That's what I've been thinking.............................. IIRC the last time 60163 & 70000 turned up they were supposed to be smokebox out of Alton, but someone at NR cocked the reversal up............................ so I have to agree that the aforementioned will be facing the "wrong way" and 34046 seems the most likely to partner 34007 at some stage, BUT we will know come Tuesday!!!

I'm afraid we cannot infer whether some locos will be tender first from this. 45 mph is the normal max speed for light engines or E+C, since there's not enough train to provide braking assistance. Also, will this move be WCRC or DBS (or even Devon & Cornwall)? Given Tornado is one of the locos, I'd expect DBS, so almost certainly with a diesel pilot.

I think you will be surprised. I have been on LE moves and they have been more than 45mph. Enjoy the view tomorrow.

Well the train is sat outside Southall Depot. Braunton is leading tender first towards London, followed by Tornado and then the Brit and two coaches. All locos facing same direction.

All facing London then by my reckoning when they reach Alton, barring unscheduled reversals

It would even up which way round the locos would be facing. If they arrive the other way round apart from 45379 and 34007 all other locos would be facing Alresford.

Reported TENDER first through Hanwell, which implies they're all facing Alresford.

    James at SVN

CORRECTION: now reported through Kenny O tender first - apparently haven't reversed at Willesden...

Tornado sandwich a couple of minutes late just after Aldershot. Impressive sight.

I'm sure they will be out soon, its probably easier now they know which way the visiting loco's are facing!
