It is a standard 4, but not a tender locomotive.

Guessing that 80150 is being pulled out of the headshunt then ;)

80150, whilst looking a lot better than it has for a while, due to regular working parties de-rusting and painting, mostly in the cab/bunker region, is not suitable for movement because of lack of springing and side control mechanism on the pony truck.
However, Sir Fred will definitely be moving towards London for display. Current plan places it squarely at the bottom of my garden!!

Now that is interesting, as the owner is looking for a permanent home , and a working 4mt tank would be ideally suited :)

Funny enough 80078 sprang to my mind when 21B first teased the info of another visiting loco last night.
Good addition to the gala line up.

Same here. I think it was said that the MHR were looking to bring a Standard 4 tank in for the event.

Hopefully going to do multiple days on the first weekend.

Excellent. Tank engines always make everything more fun, even giant tank engines.

35029 could be donated to Ian Riley, he has all the spares to hand. Boiler, cylinder ect. With a fair wind he could have 35029 back on the mainline in 6-12 months max. Lol

True but not much appetite shown with 35009 - spending on LMS projects seems to assume greater priority. Maybe if 5000 or 2700 were made available......

You never know, if he finishes off the Jinty and doesn't get offered another Black 5 to overhaul, he might get round to doing 35009 in the near future. We can only dream!

Great to hear 80078 is coming to the Gala "fresh out of the box". She was undertaking her first runs since overhaul at Mangapps yesterday:

Hopefully she might stay a while longer to clock up the running-in miles.

Great news about 80078 coming for the gala. All we need now is a timetable. I wonder if evening running will be on the cards for Friday or Saturday nights. I also wonder if 30850 and 30925 will be on view at Ropley for the gala since they are both Southern engines.

Give the guys organising this shindig a chance Lee, now that the final piece of the jigsaw is in place - will be nice to see the Std 4 tank pounding the banks & an educated guess says it'll be facing Country...... after all the website does state the TT will be out next month & it is still only May........

It certainly looks good and, judging by its performance over the Bank Holiday weekend, runs very well too.

This photo, courtesy of Stuart Chapman, shows it drawing away from Tinker's Hole, a location never before reached by a Std. 4!

Anyone wanting a preview of 80078 before it arrives at the MHR will be welcome at the Mangapps "LT&SR" event on June 11th. Further details will be posted shortly on the Mangapps website and on NP.

MHR Website has now been brought right up to date with 80078 added to the guest list and 34052 now shown as only visiting for the first weekend.
Also visitors to this event are now being encouraged to come in Sixties clothing. I am thinking of coming in the gear shown below as it also 50 years since The Beatles great Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released :);)
