Yep, that was me! Good to meet you too. Nice video, I wish I could have got some shots later in the day when the sun came out but decided against it as I didn't know what loco was working what and I needed to be on the 17:05 to Alton!

Just 5 shots from me which can be viewed here:

I'd be interested to know whether people think the one of 30120 at Medstead works or not.

Right, now that I have finally managed to thaw out and catch up on some much needed sleep after three very long days, on behalf of every one involved with the Mid Hants Wagon Group, I would just like to say a very big
    :clap2:THANK YOU:clap2:

To all of you who de-trained at Medstead (and Alresford) and came to see us at our fund raising stall, and to those who took the guided tours, we hope you found it an enjoyable, yet educational, insight into the "fun and games" we have in restoring battered old wrecks to their former glory, your generosity has helped our restoration funds no end, so once again thank you :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

A bit puzzled by this comment....where is the railway reluctant to use the flail? Granted mechanical problems meant that not everywhere got flailed last year that might have been, but reluctant?

Apart from a few spindly branches near the old signalbox at Butts and the overhang at the far end of the carriage sidings I am pushed to think of anywhere else that the vegetation is even remotely near the train except perhaps the 1/4 mile below Brick Kiln Lane, and none of these are much use for photography. 14 years ago when I started out on the line it was a green tunnel, especially between Ropley and Medstead where Andy and others have put in so much effort. What views are not open that ought to be? (I don't take phots myself so I wouldn't have a clue).

    Evening All,

I have now got the final batch of pictures from the Mid-Hants Spring Steam Gala onto Flickr. Here is the first one and, as always, clicking on it will enlarge it and take you to the others :

A major thank you to all the Wagon Group members who helped over the three days of the Gala, and to all those who gave contributions to the sales stand at Medstead, and a major thank you to all the other volunteers who worked on the gala.
If anyone hasn't had the chance to get their limited edition mug, we still have a few but they're going fast. We also have few Colliery Supply Co. wagons left, and some Alton Brewery Vans still available. If interested PM me or come down to Medstead on the 30th March.
    Steve.

I'd like to thank all involved at the MHR for their efforts in the gala, and in particular to the gent who showed me around the yard at Medstead on Saturday morning (I'm the irritating bugger from Swanage, if you're on here!).

Knowing what is involved and the sleep deprivation normally incurred in a gala event, it was nice to see the day go without too much of a hitch and everyone seem to enjoy themselves. Well done.

Without wishing to stir gossip and rumours (never a good way to start a sentence) is there any truth in a bump happening between 34007 and 850 at the gala? According to stories there was a slight accident tender to tender causing damage to 34007's buffers and 850's paintwork.

I don't wish to start World War 3 and open a can of worms, just thought the facts should be known before the story starts to escalate!!

Regarding the flail .. It has been requested that it be used in certain locations other than those that are regularly done. This was done by organisers of photo charters on the line but as yet nothing has been done towards this request, It is the Alton Medstead section of the line which would benefit.
However if the only reason to flail is to stop trees hitting the train then there is no need at all for this to be done. If you want a guided foot tour of the lineside from a photographers point of view or in many cases not then let me know . David

It was a real treat to see 120 back on the Mid-Hants! Such an elegant loco, even when running backwards. I hope it's just the first of many visits during this boiler ticket. Also wonderful to see 777 in my favourite livery and on my favourite line. I must congratulate the wagon team. I think last weekend's rake was 15 trucks plus 2 brake vans - marvelous! I saw Wadebridge lifting them up to Medstead past The Shack on Saturday, which was making her chatter rather louder than normal. I'm afraid there won't be any video from me for a while - the computer is full of Clan Line's 2012 exploits at the moment...

YoungRailwayMan, if you are on Facebook then type in Eastleigh Railway Preservation Society and there are some pictures of 828 on the newly created page.

I'm waiting for more recent photo's to add onto the page.
