Very sad news, my Dad and I were really forward to seeing her at the Spring Gala for a guess what would've been the last time.

Sad news about 3717. I was also looking forward to a final run behind her. (MHR site still has her listed at the moment).
Can Colin Chambers pull off another last minute loco hire as he has done with previous Galas? Fingers crossed...................

Give them a chance! 3440's withdrawal has only just been announced.

MHR web site has been updated today but is still showing 3440 for the gala. I wonder if they are looking for a replacement loco? I take we won't now get a loco roster until another loco can be found or not maybe the case.

On the event page scroll down to Truro, it says the following:

'*** We regret to announce that Truro will not be able to attend the Spring Gala. We hope she will visit us in the near future ***

I doubt it will visit in the near future though!

That's a bit daft, burying it way down the page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely it would have been better to have announced it in the news section along with saying they are actively seeking a replacement! (as long as it not a n other coppertop....................................................)

Yes, I missed it, the gala page still heads up with a 7 loco line up including CoT. I wouldn't mind the 53xx from Didcot again....or the 15xx from the SVR!

A BR standard of some description would be nice, missing 73096, and 76017 is some way away....

    Cheers chaps,

I only looked of the front page of the Web site. With any luck Colin will be able to pull another loco out of this hat for this event.

More likely to be something from Didcot, Swanage etc............................................. :bored:

BUT wouldn't something from Norfolk be nice........................................... a certain apple green B12

Still 'm sure that what ever does turn up will be a more than worthy replacement.

MHR website states the night shoot is no longer going ahead. Real shame, as I enjoyed it at the last gala.

As for engines I'd like to see, 61994 or 62005 would be nice ;)

    OK

This is now getting confusing - the MHR website is still saying a SEVEN engine line up, yet a posting today on their face ache page states a SIX engine line up - SO which is it?????????????????

I wish someone would do the decent thing and put an official statement on the home page of the website saying exactly what's going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes I know they're "busy" with Grommit & Wallace week, but it doesn't take five minutes to put something up on the web............................................................

    Not particularly

But at least its different and has a nice loud bark and should have no problems getting up the bank!

Interesting hire from the MHR - really nice engine to have. I wonder when it last worked away from the SVR?

Great news. I have been hoping for another Large Prairie visit since 4160 visited and failed on her first run.
5164 should sound very nice on the banks. I guess she is a straight swap for 34007 which is attending the SVR Gala.

I think it was the West Somerset in the Autumn of 2006, then the NYMR two years before then. Very nice choice of loco all the same which should add a bit of bark in the Alps.

A big thanks to the SVR for allowing 5164 to attend the gala. Lets hope she will face out of Alresford.
