I would like to watch it but the music is too distracting. Why do they go to extra trouble to make the video harder to watch? And yes I know this is one of my hobbyhorses, but I still can't understand it. I can just about understand adding music where there is no other sound track, but adding it where there is a commentary is insane.

80:20 rule, and I suspect metrics will place you in the 20.
However, you could always mute the sound and turn auto subtitles on. I had a look and it's not perfect (bell pair for bellpaire), but to be fair, the subtitles have better spelling and grammar than a lot of posters on the forum.

I have to say I think the standard of the videos are excellent.

Well done to all those involved.

A report in one of the Railway mags (can't remember which one) recently said that after 92212 is overhauled at the Midland Railway Centre she is returning to the MHR. Does this mean that this has officially been confirmed or are they jumping the gun? I hope that she is returning to Ropley. One of my favourite loco's. I bought the excellent limited edition Hornby 'one to one' collection model of the 9F earlier this year.

A very proactive year planned, some other heritage railways should follow this lead.

Good lord. A Mid Hants spring gala...that's actually in Spring? And we thought 2020 was a mad year.

So did I. The February definition of Spring was stretching it a bit, in days past.
I'd also say well done to the railway for getting their events list and dates out early this year.

I suppose getting your dates out there first avoids clashing with other lines events. I good list of events. Will definiltely be looking at the Diesel weekend, Urie weekend and ASG. They fall nicely with my work schedules. Depending on the SSG theme, I may have to consider calling in a few favours to get there but well doen to the MHR. Once again leading the heritage community out of these dark days.

I have just had the e-mail from the Mid Hants - very impressive.

    Do they have season tickets?

Looking on the latest blog page on the MHR web site. I see the foot crossing at Northside lane has been upgraded and made safer for people to use. With fencing being installed around the crossing area. Should make the place safer for photographers when a gala is taking place.

If you become a member apart from a regular magazine 3 times a year , you get 50% reduction on all Standard Steam travel( not Galas ect) and also free travel on members day usually in September .

    I hope that helps

It’s that day of the week again and this week video is all about 73096. There’s a nice bit of footage of 73096 in BLACK. Gets my vote.

I've really been enjoying these videos the MHR are uploading to YouTube.
Personally I'm still prefer the green but it'll be a great day when she steams again. 73096 was also the first MHR loco I travelled behind, during a Thomas event when I was 6 going on 7.

For me it was the first engine I travelled behind on the mainline. On the first Daylight railtour - "The Inaugural Run" i think it was called to Salisbury (not Bath as alluded to in the video). Will never forget the trip home over Savernake!

I was also on that excursion. Excellent day out and the performance of 73096 on the Main Line was a revelation when compared to some of the larger loco's on the ML at the time. Spent many very happy hours travelling around the country behind 73096 on the "Green Train" between 1998 & 2003/4. Daylight Railtours were a wonderful extension to the operations of the MHR. Met some really great people travelling on the MHR Main Line excursions. Happy days indeed!
