So reading between the lines on the 'Loop' videos it looks as though the gala will involve a managed event with possibly the locos changing trains while the passengers don't. I hope that the timetables and loco allocations will be known far enough in advance so as to be able to book on the options that involve travel on all visiting locos. But that may just not be possible, I guess.

Hoping gala details are announced asap too. - Still no ticket news for travel next week as they are changing their supplier it seems. Time is running out...

I suspect the gala will be like the October one, you get allocated a carriage, every loco pulls ever train at some point in the day and you can only travel in that carriage.

It'll be as Tom says, you get allocated a table and stay on the same train and the locos swap, so you get hauled by all of them at some point in the day.

I have tried to open the website, but get a message about it not being secure, and something about a certificate. A problem?

We are moving from the old website to a transition website in preparation for an all new website. There seems to be an issue with the certification which was expected to sort itself out after an hour or so, but hadn't. The team are on it. It is correct that you can at the second attempt get to the interim website and indeed to the ticket sales. Hopefully we will have the security certificate fixed shortly.

The situation has been explained up thread, I'm certain that those working on the site are very aware of its status and the time pressure.
Saying "it's still not working" doesn't really help...

The security certificate for www.watercressline.co.uk is misconfigured – it expired in 2016 apparently. The ‘buy tickets’ and ‘donations’ elements are on different domains and are secure, whilst the main interim site doesn’t hold any personal info about users, so any security threat is low. But modern browsers will make a fuss and make it difficult to access the site, creating a very bad impression.

It’s a configuration issue that should be easily sorted. If the certificate can’t be fixed then they might be best swapping from https to non-secure http for now until things are resolved. It’s no more or less secure but would enable people to access the site without scary warnings blocking their path.

EDIT once you’ve approved the security options once, your browser should remember the choice which is why others are reporting that they can now access it without problem.

The lemmings certainly fell all over each other switching to HTTPS en masse once Snowden did his thing. The irony is that if the NSA really wanted to watch someone, they have other ways (e.g. traffic analysis). And of course, as far as privacy concerns go, the vast mass of personal info hoarded by Google, Facebook, etc is very worrying. But, hey, they're the good guys, right? (Now, where's that 'sarcasm' icon...)

Apologies for the off-topic, but you hit one of my hot buttons...

But you are quite right, there's really no significant need for security on the general site, as long as things involving money and one's online payment mechanisms are protected. [All it does is use more energy, and thus help produce more CO2! :-]

Good to see the return of normal individual tickets rather than having to block book a table of four or compartment. Makes the cost for a family day out much more sensible. I’ll be booking some tickets soon.

That's how we sold tickets all year last year except at Steam Illuminations and the Gala.

We will still be maintaining social distancing and other covid measures for the foreseeable future.

Look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Gala tickets on sale after the weekend.

And at that point will it be clear from the site which locos will actually be 'cycled' around the trains so that visitors can see how their visit and rides will be managed?
