Yes, I know :) I may just have to pay a return visit to the NVR as a guest of their wagon group to catch up with a few folks, from our charter with her last Oct! ;) :)

'Fraid not, niether the benches nor the floor will be long enough for my elongated frame - so Premier Inn it is!

Brilliant paint finish, I bet it never looked as good when fresh out of BR shops. A lot of people involved, but a shout out to father and son Scott and Ethan, who stuck with it from start to finish.

I like the retro overhead live wires flashes on the 08, little details like that make all the difference.

There was no working party atop the hill yesterday, with the weather set foul, it was decided between the two of us seeming in charge of the rabble, sorry I mean merry band, that it would be futile to even think about trying to work in the forecast conditions!!

So instead of getting soaked & blown over, one of us had automotive woes to attend to & the other caught up withmuch needed sleep, whilst the rest of the merry band of hardy souls found other things to do at home!!

So no pics of the comings & goings atop the hill this week, but some pics from Tuesdays charter....

I see the next episode of In The Loop is available to watch on YouTube. Great to see a bit more info about 205025 and there’s some great video footage from the Pannier tank.

That's a pretty impressive bit of kit being used on the stays! The shop is 'lucky' to have it.

To change the subject I see that the reservation system is showing no dates available. Has the railway closed down again or is it another system fault? We would actually like to make another visit

Back up and running now. Bookings available to end of May and for first week of June through the Days out With Thomas site. Later dates will be added as we go.

Weekend of the 21st to 23rd of May is vintage vehicle weekend. There will over a dozen full-size traction engines, showmanship engines, and steam lorries as well as cars, motorcycles and buses. On top of that the 45 ton steam breakdown crane will be demonstrating its operation at Ropley. Three passenger trains sets on Saturday and a goods train on Sunday. We hope to be using the Pannier as one of the locos.

    Hope to see you!!

According to the office this would be a normal timetable but when I tried to book just now I had to chose seats on a particular train.

    Is this so?

    Thanks

What do you mean by "normal"? I fear that word is easily misunderstood these days.

This weekend is not like the Spring Steam Up. Seats at Vintage Vehicle weekend are allocated.

On Saturday a Watercress Wanderer will operate (first one actually). This makes three return trips the length of the line and you can ride them all with your ticket if you want or get on and off.

All days the King Alfred Climber operates morning and afternoon.

The Austen Adventurer operates on Saturday and Sunday, again morning and afternoon.

You can only ride the train you have booked. So if you book for the 1030 King Alfres Climber from Alresford, you are not able to ride on any other train.

For maximum flexibility the Wanderer is the best bet, because your ticket will allow to travel on any whole or part of the trains 3 round trips but again not on anything else.

Your train ticket (whichever option you choose) will allow you to park at Ropley and see the exhibits before or after your journey if you would like extra time viewing them at no extra charge.

If you only want to view the exhibits, and not travel on the train then there is a site only entry available on the day.

Hopefully, we will soon be able to relax some of these arrangements a little further.

    Hope that clarifies matters.

Presumably that means the same loco all day? Are the loco allocations known yet? Thanks
