I was looking at Richard Bentley's instagram page earlier and it appears from the comments posted on there that the MHR are looking into holding a Farewell event for 45379. Richard says we have to keep an eye on the MHR Website for details.

When you look back the Black 5 was brought by the railway to in effect replace the Standard 5, isn't it a very strange change of circumstances that both engines are now back on the railway, both now owned by the railway, I wonder which will be outshopped first after overhaul?

Hopefully within the next few days or weeks I'll be joining the platform staff at Medstead. My Dad's already started at Arlesford, and now I'm just waiting for Mr Brown to get back to me - I think he's on holiday currently, though I'm not sure. I've been accepted, and now can't wait to get started!

Mr Brown was around yesterday, but not in an official capacity - so I'm sure you'll be hearing something in the very near future.....

You'll like Medstead - good station & good people.

    I wouldn't call Med-Temp that!

But point the camera in the right direction, then yes.

Medstead would be all right if it wasn't full of dilapidated old wagons, Dave!;):D

That'll be the Pways kit then, Steve. ;)

Our wagons maybe old, but they're NOT dilapidated!

Any more comments like that & we'll get the Presflo into the rake....... :)

As one of the team that maintain the Picnic area at Alresford (which is where the baby arrived) I can say that we were all pleased we had cut the grass the week before. Nothing like a trim piece of grass to calm the mind during trying circumstances!

Also to note 45379 is out this weekend, as the damage to its ash pan is not considered high risk now that the drought is over!

Can you confirm if 45379 is out tomorrow and on which diagram?

Just saw 73096, complete with Mid Hants Railway headboard, travelling slowly down the M3 towards the Great Dorset Steam Fair.

(It was on the back of a lorry mind!)

Until I read the bit in brackets I had a vision of that scene from the Titfield Thunderbolt. :)
