Actually, there are precedents for using a DMU, or even a part of a DMU, on MHR Gala shuttles, especially with locos fitted with air brakes. IIRC, we had a Terrier operating a "push-pull" service one year.

I think allocations will only be finalised once Clan Line and Braunton have arrived, as then we will know for definte which way they are facing!! So not till Wednesday or even Thursday!

Checking UK Steam, they'll be arriving tender first......................, they "hopefully" reverse at Guildford - makes a lot of sense, otherwise it'll be a very lopsided gala given the imbalance of the home fleet facing out of Alton!

    Let's hope so Dave!
Might be worth mentioning the area around Ropley/Bishops Sutton is still very wet, plus you can't park in the filed entrance by the Old A31 bridge between Alresford and Bishops Sutton as it is currently a site entrance for the new Solar Farm just over the hill! The A32 is still shut at Farringdon also and the A272 at Bramdean

Also eagerly awaiting diagrams, pretty sure I'll turn up regardless but as I've got to be gone for work by 2pm at the absolute latest, keen to see asap how much I'll have time to tick off in the hours I can be there. Intrigued to see where the Thumper fits in (would guess hauled stock for Met 1).

Isn't the thumper air brake only? Hence why the O2 hauled it the other year. Met 1 is vacuum only.

Yep it is facing London, arrived safely late afternoon, will be on shuttle service to Ropley with the Hampshire Unit apparently....public loco allocations should be out soon, Bodmin leaving on the lorry bringing in the Black 5 9tomorrow or Thursday presumably...oh and Wadebridge has a bit of a ding where it met a Tesco's lorry on the journey back from the CVR!
