In my view a Steam Train FROM (rather than TO ) Alton Towers would be a much better attraction than a souped-up funfair....

This new development of M&C Railway interests me as it is potentially a REAL railway system rather than just a tourist line. Good luck with it!

Is there a link to show current and proposed final track layout at Leekbrook Junction?

BTW, the linked photos of 8624 and its maroon rake make me personally want to give a :thumb: to the restorers. It might say 8F on the cabside but to all intents and purposes it's going to be a passenger loco from now on. Midland Red? Bring it on!

The September edition of "The Railway Magazine" which reached me by post today has a four-page article on the intentions of the CVR and the MCR.

Spent the day with jon kerr (Lil bear) and some CVR/MCR guys replacing sleepers yesterday

From what i recall they have done nearly 200 in a week and there is about another 200 to go

Great atmosphere and very upbeat mood about the place but there again are you surprised when you look at whats happening

We were working on the 1 in 40 section just past the big Skew bridge over the Leek to Ched road.....and yes it really does look steep

I walked down that section a few months ago and gave up because the trees and brambles etc what a difference it looks now

ASSISTANCE REQUIRED. If anybody out there would like to help with some of the signalling work required to open the Caldon Branch, please drop us a line if you're interested. Contact the CVR Signal Engineering Dept, by e-mail to: jim@sandon.plus.com
Signalling experience is obviously preferred, but we'll consider any offers of assistance.
    Regards
    Jim

It's unbelievable the amount of work going on, on the line over 400 sleepers changed so far, lots of rail changed. Everywhere you look on the lines groups of people greasing fishplates, replacing worn keys, painting bridge numbers, still removing tree stumps and everyone with big smiles on their faces. IT'S GREAT.

If you search for Support the Railway to open to Leek you should find it.
